Abstract

An output control (OPC) information is recorded on the magnetic tape 1 in conjunction with an MPEG stream. The OPC information is composed of two bits and is extracted from a reproduced signal by the output control circuit 9 and controls the digital interface (D. I/F) 7 and the switch circuit 11 . In case a first bit of the OPC information is “0”, the output control circuit 9 makes the D. I/F 7 enabled and permits the output of a digital signal. In a case of “1”, the output control circuit 9 prohibits to output the digital signal. Further, when the second bit of the OPC information is “0”, the output control circuit 9 turns the switch circuit 11 off, preventing the output of an analog component signal. In case its “1”, the output control circuit 9 permits the output of the analog component signal.

Claims (5)

1. A receiving method comprising the steps of:

converting a video information, which is taken out from a signal information received through a predetermined transmission line, into more than one of a plurality of signal formats being different from each other;

outputting said video information in respective signal formats, wherein said signal information is transmitted with a transport stream that is multiplexed with at least said video information by a transport packet;

extracting a flag from said signal information received through said predetermined transmission line, wherein said flag is previously multiplexed with said signal information and selectively designates an output signal format of said video information whether or not resolution of said video signal is limited to less than a predetermined resolution that is lower than original resolution of said video information in the step of outputting; and

converting said output signal format of said video information to be an output signal format designated by said extracted flag.
