Process for automatically trimming an excess of corner covering material
A process for trimming a corner of an article covered with a covering material, including pinching excess covering material and welding the material to fit over the corner of the article.
1 . A process for trimming an excess of covering material overlying a corner of an underlying core material comprising:
a. pinching the excess of covering material; and
b. welding the excess of covering material with a hot weld apparatus to weld a tight fitting covering corner over the corner of the underlying core material and simultaneously burn off the excess of covering material.
2 . The process of claim 1 wherein an automated pair of pinchers pinches the excess covering material between the pair of pincers in step (a) and an automated hot weld apparatus subsequently welds the excess material in step (b).
3 . The process of claim 2 wherein steps (a) and (b) are simultaneously conducted on four covered corners of a rectangular or square-shaped core material.
4 . The process of claim 1 wherein the covering material is a fabric material and the core material is foam.
5 . The process of claim 4 wherein an automated pair of pinchers pinches the excess covering material between the pair of pincers in step (a) and an automated hot weld apparatus subsequently welds the excess material in step (b).
6 . The process of claim 5 wherein steps (a) and (b) are simultaneously conducted on four covered corners of a rectangular or square-shaped core material.
