Method of recycling a nuclear-cored battery
A method of recycling a nuclear-cored battery having the steps of placing a nuclear-cored battery into a mill to break the battery into smaller pieces. These pieces then undergo a burning process that heats the pieces to melt away P and N layers and a photovoltaic layer to expose a light dissipating material. Any residual deposits remaining on the light dissipating material is then removed via a physical and/or chemical treatment. Once these steps are completed the light dissipating material may be reused as an energy source for another product.
1 . A method of recycling a nuclear core battery, comprising the steps of:
providing a nuclear core battery having a light dissipating material surrounded by a photovoltaic layer sandwiched between P and N layers;
breaking the nuclear core battery into pieces;
heating the pieces of the nuclear cored battery to melt away the P and N layers and the photovoltaic layer to expose the light dissipating material; and
removing residual deposits on the light dissipating material.
2 . The method of claim 1 wherein the step of breaking the nuclear core battery comprises steps of:
placing the nuclear cored battery in a mill; and
milling the nuclear cored battery to break the battery into pieces.
3 . The method of claim 1 wherein the step of heating the pieces of the nuclear cored battery comprises the step of placing the pieces of the nuclear cored battery into a kiln.
4 . The method of claim 1 wherein the step of removing residual deposits on the light dissipating material further comprises the step of scrubbing the light dissipating material with an acid to remove the residual deposits.
5 . The method of claim 1 wherein the step of removing residual deposits on the light dissipating material further comprises the step of exposing the light dissipating material to a circulating wash to physically remove the residual deposits.
6 . The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of reusing the light dissipating material in a product.
7 . A method of recycling a nuclear core battery, comprising the steps of:
providing a nuclear core battery having a light dissipating material surrounded by a photovoltaic layer sandwiched by P and N layers;
milling the nuclear core battery into pieces within a mill;
heating the pieces of the nuclear cored battery in a kiln to melt away the P and N layers and the photovoltaic layer to expose the light dissipating material; and
removing residual deposits on the light dissipating material.
8 . The method of claim 7 wherein the residual deposits are physically removed.
9 . The method of claim 7 wherein the residual deposits are chemically removed.
