Abstract

A method of fabricating a liquid crystal display panel includes forming a first alignment film on a first substrate, aligning the first alignment film in a first alignment direction by a first rubbing process, forming a second alignment film on a second substrate, aligning the second alignment film in a second alignment direction by a second rubbing process, attaching the first and second substrates to each other, and re-aligning a substantially non-uniformly aligned area on at least one of the first and second substrates by irradiating a light irradiating device of one of an ultraviolet ray and a laser beam.

Claims (32)

1. A method of fabricating a liquid crystal display panel, comprising:

performing a first alignment on at least one of upper and lower alignment films; and

performing a second alignment on a bright spot defect corresponding to a particle at the first aligned film by irradiating light generated from a light irradiating device,

wherein the first and second alignments have substantially the same alignment direction,

wherein one of the alignment films covers the particle.

2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the light includes one of an ultraviolet ray and a laser beam.

3. The method according to claim 2 , wherein the one of the ultraviolet ray and the laser beam has a wavelength of about 200 to 400 nm.

4. The method according to claim 2 , wherein the one of the ultraviolet ray and the laser beam has an energy of about 0.1˜3 J/cm 2 .

5. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising:

forming a polarizer at a rear surface of the upper substrate where the upper alignment film is formed.

6. The method according to claim 2 , wherein the laser beam is generated by one of an Nd YAG laser and a diode laser.

7. The method according to claim 2 , wherein the ultraviolet ray is generated by one of a mercury lamp and a halogen lamp.

8. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising:

controlling an irradiation area and a focal distance of the light by using a focus controller located between the light irradiation device and the liquid crystal display panel.

9. A method of fabricating a liquid crystal display panel, comprising:

forming a first alignment film on a first substrate;

aligning the first alignment film in a first alignment direction;

forming a second alignment film on a second substrate;

aligning the second alignment film in a second alignment direction;

attaching the first and second substrates to each other; and

re-aligning a non-uniformly aligned area on at least one of the first and second substrates,

wherein one of the first and second alignment films covers the particle.

10. The method according to claim 9 , wherein the re-aligning a non-uniformly aligned area is performed by irradiating light generated from a light irradiating device.

11. The method according to claim 10 , wherein the light irradiating device generates one of an ultraviolet ray and a laser beam.

12. The method according to claim 9 , wherein the first and second alignment directions are substantially the same.

13. The method according to claim 10 , wherein the light has a wavelength of about 200 to 400 nm.

14. The method according to claim 10 , wherein the light has an energy of about 0.1˜3 J/cm 2 .

15. The method according to claim 10 , wherein the laser beam is generated by one of an Nd YAG laser and a diode laser.

16. The method according to claim 10 , wherein the ultraviolet ray is generated by one of a mercury lamp and a halogen lamp.

17. The method according to claim 9 , further comprising:

controlling an irradiation area and a focal distance of the light by using a focus controller located between the light irradiation device and the liquid crystal display panel.

18. The method according to claim 9 , wherein the aligning the first and second alignment films are performed by first and second rubbing processes, respectively.
