Abstract

An apparatus for routing conductors, such as signal carrying conductors, from within an electro-mechanical machine housing to a location outside the housing is provided. The apparatus includes a base for fitting in a first opening in the housing and securing a lower portion of the apparatus to the housing. The apparatus also includes a channel for carrying the conductors, which may be formed in a shape corresponding to a profile of a portion of the housing. The apparatus includes a fastener, such as a snap-type mechanical fastener, for securing the apparatus to the housing.

Claims (29)

1. An apparatus comprising:

an electro-mechanical machine housing; and

a conductor routing element configured to route conductors from within the electro-mechanical machine housing to a location outside the housing, the conductor routing element including:

base means, positioned proximate a first end of the conductor routing element, the base means configured to fit over a bottom portion of a first opening in the housing;

routing means for carrying the conductors; and

fastening means, positioned proximate a second end of the conductor routing element, the fastening means configured to secure the conductor routing element to the housing.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the electro-mechanical machine housing includes an electrical motor housing.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the conductors include signal carrying conductors coupled to a resolver in the electro-mechanical machine housing.

4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the conductors are coupled to a thermistor within the electro-mechanical machine housing.

5. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the fastening means includes moveable means for securing the conductor routing element to the housing by way of a second opening in the housing.

6. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the moveable means include two or more members separated by a continuous space, the members configured to allow the moving means to pass through the second opening in the housing.

7. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the routing means includes a channel, for carrying conductors, formed in a shape corresponding to a profile of a portion of the housing.

8. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the routing means routes the conductors from within the housing to the outside location through the first opening in the housing.

9. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the routing means includes a channel, for carrying the conductors, formed in a shape corresponding to a profile of the first opening in the housing.

10. An apparatus comprising:

an electro-mechanical machine housing; and

a conductor routing element configured to selectively attach to the electro-mechanical machine housing, and route conductors from within the electro-mechanical machine housing to a location outside the housing, the routing element including:

a base for fitting in a first opening in the housing;

a routing channel for carrying conductors; and

a fastener for securing the conductor routing element to the housing.

11. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the electro-mechanical machine housing includes an electrical motor housing.

12. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the conductors include signal carrying conductors coupled to a resolver in the electro-mechanical machine housing.

13. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the conductors are couple to a thermistor within the electro-mechanical machine housing.

14. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the fastener includes moveable means for securing the conductor routing element to the housing by way of a second opening in the housing.

15. The apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the routing channel is configured to route the conductors from within the housing to the outside location through the first opening in the housing.

16. The apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the moveable means include two or more members separated by a continuous space, the members configured to allow the moving means to pass through the second opening in the housing.

17. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the routing channel is configured to route conductors from within the housing to the outside location through the first opening in the housing.

18. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the routing channel is formed in a shape corresponding to a profile of a portion of the housing.

19. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the routing channel is formed in a shape corresponding to a profile of the first opening in the housing.
