Abstract

A centrifugal separator includes: a sample line; and a rotating apparatus portion including a rotor that has a rotor chamber. The centrifugal separator centrifugally separates a sample by supplying the sample from the sample line into the rotor and driving to rotate the rotor in the rotor chamber and discharges the centrifugally separated sample from the rotor via the sample line. The centrifugal separator includes: a sterilizing apparatus for sterilizing at least a portion with which the sample is brought into contact by making a sterilizing fluid flow through the sample line.

Claims (38)

1. A continuous flow type centrifuge comprising:

a rotating apparatus portion including a rotor rotatably disposed in a main housing;

a sample tank containing a sample;

a drive motor coupled to the rotor for rotating the rotor about a rotation axis;

a sample injecting connector for injecting the sample stored in the sample tank into the rotor;

a first pipe connecting between the sample tank and the sample injecting connector;

a sample discharging connector for discharging the centrifugally separated sample from the rotor;

a sample discharging tank;

a second pipe connecting between the sample discharging connector and the sample discharging tank;

a sterilizing apparatus including a sterilizing fluid source;

a third pipe connecting between the sterilizing fluid source and one of the first pipe and the second pipe;

means for trapping the sterilizing fluid; and

a fourth pipe connecting between the sterilizing trapping means and the other of the first pipe and the second pipe.

2. The continuous flow type centrifuge according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a cooling water pipe for supplying a cooling water to the rotor, and

means for making the sterilizing fluid flow to the cooling water pipe.

3. The continuous flow type centrifuge according to claim 2 , further comprises:

a compressed air source and an air pipe for making an air flow through the cooling pipe to remove the cooling water and moisture remaining in the cooling pipe.

4. The continuous flow type centrifuge according to claim 2 , wherein a valve is provided to supply the cooling water to the rotor after the sterilizing apparatus supplies sterilizing fluid to the rotor.

5. The continuous flow type centrifuge according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a cooling coil disposed in the rotor and supplied with a cooling water, and

a cooling water pump for supplying the cooling water to the cooling coil through a cooling water pipe.

6. The continuous flow type centrifuge according to claim 1 , wherein the sterilizing fluid is vapor or a chemical.

7. The continuous flow type centrifuge according to claim 1 , wherein the sterilizing apparatus supplies sterilizing fluid to the rotor while supplying oil to a seal portion and a bearing portion of the rotor.

8. The continuous flow type centrifuge according to claim 1 , wherein the sterilizing apparatus supplies sterilizing fluid to the rotor under condition that the inside of a rotor chamber is maintained in a vacuum state.

9. The continuous flow type centrifuge according to claim 1 , wherein the sterilizing apparatus is configured independently from the rotor.

10. The continuous flow type centrifuge according to claim 9 , further comprising:

a control portion for controlling the sterilizing apparatus,

wherein the control portion is configured to control to operate the sterilizing apparatus based on a signal from the control apparatus portion.

11. A centrifugal separator comprising:

a sample line;

a rotating apparatus portion including a rotor that has a rotor chamber; and

wherein the centrifugal separator centrifugally separates a sample by supplying the sample from the sample line into the rotor and driving to rotate the rotor in the rotor chamber and discharges the centrifugally separated sample from the rotor via the sample line,

a cooling water line for supplying cooling water to the rotating apparatus portion,

wherein the cooling water line includes a closed loop and at least a cooling water pump and cooling means are provided in the closed loop at a middle portion thereof,

wherein the centrifugal separator comprises:

a sterilizing apparatus for sterilizing at least a portion with which the sample is brought into contact by making a sterilizing fluid flow through the sample line, and

wherein tile sterilizing apparatus is coupled to the cooling water line such that the sterilizing fluid also flows through the cooling water line.
