Abstract

A display apparatus includes a light source, and a partition wall which divides an inside of the display apparatus into an enclosing space which includes a plurality of optical elements and an outer space with respect to the enclosing space. The optical elements includes a color separator which receives a light from the light source and emits a plurality of separate color beams, at least one reflecting type light valve which forms an image by reflecting the plurality of color beams, and a projection lens which projects the image of an external screen. A first cooling fan is provided which causes an air flow in the outer space. A least one of the optical elements forms a part of the partition wall, and the air flow cools the at least one reflecting type light valve from the outer space.

Claims (29)

1. A display apparatus comprising:

a light source;

a partition wall which divides an inside of the display apparatus into an enclosing space which includes a plurality of optical elements and an outer space with respect to the enclosing space;

wherein the optical elements includes:

a color separator which receives a light from the light source and emits a plurality of separate color beams;

at least one reflecting type light valve which forms an image by reflecting the plurality of color beams; and

a projection lens which projects the image of an external screen; and

a first cooling fan which causes an air flow in the outer space;

wherein at least one of the optical elements forms a part of the partition wall; and

wherein the air flow cools the at least one reflecting type light valve from the outer space.

2. A display apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one reflecting type light valve forms a part of the partition wall.

3. A display apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a radiation fin in the outer space which is attached to the at least one reflecting type light valve.

4. A display apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the air flow cools the light source after cooling the at least one reflecting type light valve.

5. A display apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one reflecting type light valve includes a liquid crystal panel.

6. A display apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one reflecting type light valve includes a micro-mirror type panel.

7. A display apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the color separator includes a plurality of dichroic mirrors.

8. A display apparatus comprising:

a light source;

a color separator which receives a light from the light source and emits plurality of separate color beams;

at least one reflecting type light valve which forms an image by reflecting the plurality of color beams;

a projection lens which projects the image on an external screen;

a chassis which encloses the color separator and the at least one reflecting type light valve and comprises a partition wall, a part of the partition wall being formed by at least one of the color separator and the at least one reflecting type light valve; and

a cooling fan which causes an air flow outside of the chassis, the air flow cooling the at least one reflecting type light valve from the outside of the chassis.

9. A display apparatus according to claim 8 , wherein the at least one reflecting type light valve forms a part of the partition wall.

10. A display apparatus according to claim 8 , further comprising a radiation fin disposed at the outside of the chassis which is attached to the at least one reflecting type light valve.

11. A display apparatus according to claim 10 , wherein the air flow cools the light source after cooling of the at least one reflecting type light valve.

12. A display apparatus according to claim 8 , wherein the at least one reflecting type light valve includes a liquid crystal panel.

13. A display apparatus according to claim 8 , wherein the at least one reflecting type light valve includes a micro-mirror type panel.

14. A display apparatus according to claim 8 , wherein the color separator includes a plurality of dichroic mirrors.
