Anatomical imaging system with centipede belt drive
An anatomical imaging system comprising a CT machine; and a transport mechanism mounted to the base of the CT machine, wherein the transport mechanism comprises a fine movement mechanism for moving the CT machine precisely, relative to the patient, during scanning.
1. An anatomical imaging system comprising:
a CT machine; and
a transport mechanism mounted to the base of the CT machine, wherein the transport mechanism comprises a fine movement mechanism for moving the CT machine precisely, relative to a patient, during scanning;
wherein the fine movement mechanism comprises at least one centipede belt drive unit.
2. A system according to claim 1 wherein the at least one centipede belt drive unit comprises a chassis for rotatably supporting a drive belt, at least one drive gear for drivingly engaging the drive belt, and at least one motor for driving the at least one drive gear.
3. A system according to claim 1 wherein the fine movement mechanism comprises two centipede belt drive units.
4. A system according to claim 3 wherein one centipede belt drive unit is disposed on either side of the patient.
5. An anatomical imaging system comprising:
a CT machine; and
a transport mechanism mounted to the base of the CT machine, wherein the transport mechanism comprises a fine movement mechanism for moving the CT machine precisely, relative to a patient, during scanning,
wherein the transport mechanism further comprises a gross movement mechanism for transporting the CT machine relatively quickly across room distances;
and wherein the gross movement mechanism comprises an actuator for: (i) extending portions of the gross movement mechanism below portions of the fine movement mechanism whereby the CT machine will be supported by portions of the gross movement mechanism; and (ii) retracting portions of the gross movement mechanism above portions of the fine movement mechanism whereby the CT machine will be supported by portions of the fine movement mechanism.
6. An anatomical imaging system comprising:
a CT machine; and
a transport mechanism mounted to the base of the CT machine, wherein the transport mechanism comprises:
a gross movement mechanism for transporting the CT machine across room distances; and
a fine movement mechanism for moving the CT machine precisely, relative to a patient, during scanning,
wherein the gross movement mechanism comprises two caster units, wherein one caster unit is disposed on either side of the patient, and the fine movement mechanism comprises two centipede belt drive units, wherein one centipede belt drive unit is disposed on either side of the patient.
7. An anatomical imaging system comprising:
a CT machine; and
a transport mechanism mounted to the base of the CT machine, wherein the transport mechanism comprises:
a gross movement mechanism for transporting the CT machine across room distances; and
a fine movement mechanism for moving the CT machine precisely, relative to a patient, during scanning,
wherein the gross movement mechanism comprises an actuator for: (i) extending portions of the gross movement mechanism below portions of the fine movement mechanism whereby the CT machine will be supported by portions of the gross movement mechanism; and (ii) retracting portions of the gross movement mechanism above portions of the fine movement mechanism whereby the CT machine will be supported by portions of the fine movement mechanism.
