Abstract

An electroluminescent element comprising: a pair of electrodes at least one of which is a transparent electrode; and a luminescent-particle-containing layer provided between the electrodes and comprising an organic binder and luminescent particles, wherein the electroluminescent element further comprises at least one interlayer which makes substantially no contribution to luminescence and is provided between the transparent electrode and the luminescent-particle-containing layer, the interlayer comprising an organic polymeric compound having a softening point of 140° C. or higher as a binder.

Claims (26)

1 . An electroluminescent element comprising:

a pair of electrodes at least one of which is a transparent electrode; and

a luminescent-particle-containing layer provided between the electrodes and comprising an organic binder and luminescent particles,

wherein the electroluminescent element further comprises at least one interlayer which makes substantially no contribution to luminescence and is provided between the transparent electrode and the luminescent-particle-containing layer, the interlayer comprising an organic polymeric compound having a softening point of 140° C. or higher as a binder.

2 . An electroluminescent element comprising:

a pair of electrodes at least one of which is a transparent electrode; and

a luminescent-particle-containing layer provided between the electrodes and comprising an organic binder and luminescent particles,

wherein the electroluminescent element further comprises at least one interlayer which makes substantially no contribution to luminescence and is provided between the transparent electrode and the luminescent-particle-containing layer, the interlayer comprising at least one organic polymer selected from polyesters, polycarbonates, polyamides, polyethersulfones, ultraviolet-cured resins obtained by a polymerization of acrylic esters and methacrylic esters, thermoset cyanate resins, and thermoset epoxy resins as a binder in an amount of 50% by volume or larger based on materials constituting the interlayer.

3 . The electroluminescent element according to claim 1 , wherein the interlayer has a thickness of from 1 μm to 10 μm.

4 . The electroluminescent element according to claim 2 , wherein the interlayer has a thickness of from 1 μm to 10 μm.

5 . The electroluminescent element according to claim 1 , wherein the transparent electrode has a surface resistivity of from 0.05 to 80 Ω/□.

6 . The electroluminescent element according to claim 2 , wherein the transparent electrode has a surface resistivity of from 0.05 to 80 Ω/□

7 . The electroluminescent element according to claim 1 , wherein the transparent electrode comprises:

a layer comprising a metal oxide; and

a pattern layer formed in a net or stripe arrangement and comprising at least one member selected from metals and alloys.

8 . The electroluminescent element according to claim 2 , wherein the transparent electrode comprises:

a layer comprising a metal oxide; and

a pattern layer formed in a net or stripe arrangement and comprising at least one member selected from metals and alloys.

9 . The electroluminescent element according to claim 1 , wherein the transparent electrode comprises:

a layer comprising a metal oxide; and

a metal layer.

10 . The electroluminescent element according to claim 2 , wherein the transparent electrode comprises:

a layer comprising a metal oxide; and

a metal layer.

11 . The electroluminescent element according to claim 1 , wherein the luminescent particles has a size of from 1.0 to 15 μm in terms of an average diameter of corresponding spheres.

12 . The electroluminescent element according to claim 2 , wherein the luminescent particles has a size of from 0.1 to 25 μm in terms of an average diameter of corresponding spheres.
