Abstract

An image forming method using a photothermographic material including, on at least one side of a support, an image forming layer containing at least a photosensitive silver halide, a first non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent, and a binder, and at least one non-photosensitive layer disposed on the same side as the image forming layer and farther from the support than the image forming layer, wherein the non-photosensitive layer contains a second organic silver salt which is different from the first non-photosensitive organic silver salt, and the photothermographic material is thermally developed for 3 seconds to 20 seconds after imagewise exposure. An image forming method with excellent resistance to stain before exposure, raw stock storability, and resistance to defects after processing is provided.

Claims (19)

1 . An image forming method using a photothermographic material comprising, on at least one side of a support, an image forming layer comprising at least a photosensitive silver halide, a first non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent, and a binder, and at least one non-photosensitive layer which is disposed on the same side as the image forming layer and farther from the support than the image forming layer, wherein the non-photosensitive layer comprises a second organic silver salt which is different from the first non-photosensitive organic silver salt, imagewise exposing the photothermographic material and thermal developing for 3 seconds to 20 seconds after imagewise exposure.

2 . The image forming method according to claim 1 , wherein the photothermographic material comprises a development accelerator.

3 . The image forming method according to claim 1 , wherein the photothermographic material comprises a fluorocarbon compound which has two or more fluoroalkyl groups having two or more carbon atoms and 11 or fewer fluorine atoms and has at least one of an anionic or nonionic hydrophilic group.

The image forming method according to claim 1 , wherein the second organic silver salt is at least one selected from a silver salt of a fatty acid, a silver salt of a mercapto compound, a silver salt of a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound, a silver salt of an aromatic carboxylic acid, and a silver salt of a poly-carboxylic acid.

5 . The image forming method according to claim 4 , wherein the silver salt of a fatty acid is a silver salt of a saturated fatty acid having II to 27 carbon atoms.

6 . The image forming method according to claim 4 , wherein the silver salt of a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound is a silver salt of an azole compound.

7 . The image forming method according to claim 6 , wherein the silver salt of an azole compound is a silver salt of a benzotriazole compound.

8 . The image forming method according to claim 4 , wherein the silver salt of a mercapto compound is a silver salt of a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic mercapto compound.

9 . The image forming method according to claim 4 , wherein the silver salt of a poly-carboxylic acid is a silver salt of an aliphatic carboxylic acid.

10 . The image forming method according to claim 4 , wherein the silver salt of a poly-carboxylic acid is a silver salt of a polymer comprising a monomer component having a carboxy group.

11 . The image forming method according to claim 4 , wherein the silver salt of a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound is a silver salt of an imidazole compound.

12 . The image forming method according to claim 1 , wherein a silver potential is from +50 mV to +700 mV (with respect to a standard hydrogen electrode) at 25° C. in an aqueous dispersion or solution of the second organic silver salt.

13 . The image forming method according to claim 1 , wherein 50% by weight or more of a solvent of a coating solution for the image forming layer is water.

14 . The image forming method according to claim 13 , wherein 50% by weight or more of the binder in the image forming layer is formed by a hydrophobic polymer latex.

15 . The image forming method according to claim 1 , wherein 50% by weight or more of a solvent of a coating solution for the non-photosensitive layer is water.

16 . The image forming method according to claim 15 , wherein 50% by weight or more of a binder in the non-photosensitive layer is formed by a hydrophobic polymer latex.

17 . The image forming method according to claim 15 , wherein 50% by weight or more of a binder in the non-photosensitive layer is formed by a hydrophilic polymer.

18 . The image forming method according to claim 17 , wherein the hydrophilic polymer comprises gelatin.

The image forming method according to claim 1 , wherein the photothermographic material comprises a non-photosensitive intermediate layer between the image forming layer and the non-photosensitive layer comprising the second organic silver salt which is different from the first non-photosensitive organic silver salt, and 50% by weight or more of a binder in the non-photosensitive intermediate layer is formed by a hydrophobic polymer latex.
