Abstract

A photothermographic material having, on at least one side of a support, an image forming layer containing at least a photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent, and a binder, and at least one non-photosensitive layer which is disposed on the same side as the image forming layer and farther from the support than the image forming layer, wherein (1) 50% by weight or more of the binder is a polymer latex having a monomer component having an acid group, and (2) the polymer latex has a core/shell structure having a core part and a shell part, and the monomer component having an acid group in the core part is 2 mol % to 20 mol % of a total amount of the monomer component having an acid group in the polymer latex. The invention provides a photothermographic material which exhibits excellent image uniformity with low fog.

Claims (15)

1. A photothermographic material comprising, on at least one side of a support, an image forming layer comprising at least a photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent, and a binder, and at least one non-photosensitive layer which is disposed on the same side as the image forming layer and farther from the support than the image forming layer, wherein

(1) 50% by weight or more of the binder is a polymer latex having a monomer component having an acid group, and

(2) the polymer latex has a core/shell structure having a core part and a shell part, and the monomer component having an acid group in the core part is 5 mol % to 15 mol % of a total amount of the monomer component having an acid group in the polymer latex.

2. The photothermographic material according to claim 1 , wherein a content of the monomer component having an acid group, in the polymer latex, is from 1% by weight to 10% by weight.

3. The photothermographic material according to claim 2 , wherein the content of the monomer component having an acid group, in the polymer latex, is from 2% by weight to 5% by weight.

4. The photothermographic material according to claim 1 , wherein the monomer component having an acid group is a monomer component having a carboxy group as the acid group.

5. The photothermographic material according to claim 4 , wherein the monomer component having the carboxy group as the acid group is acrylic acid, itaconic acid, or methacrylic acid.

6. The photothermographic material according to claim 5 , wherein the monomer component having the carboxy group as the acid group is acrylic acid.

7. The photothermographic material according to claim 1 , wherein the polymer latex comprises 10% by weight to 70% by weight of a monomer component represented by the following formula (M):

CH 2 ═CR 01 —CR 02 ═CH 2   Formula (M)

wherein R 01 and R 02 each independently represent an atom or a group selected from a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, a halogen atom, or a cyano group.

8. The photothermographic material according to claim 7 , wherein both R 01 and R 02 in formula (M) are a hydrogen atom.

9. The photothermographic material according to claim 7 , wherein in formula (M), one of R 01 and R 02 is a hydrogen atom and the other is a methyl group.

10. The photothermographic material according to claim 1 , wherein an average particle size of the polymer latex is from 50 nm to 105 nm.

11. The photothermographic material according to claim 1 , wherein 50% by weight or more of a binder of the non-photosensitive layer is the polymer latex.
