Abstract

Carbonyl-functionalized oligo/polythiophene compounds, and related semiconductor components and related device structures.

Claims (15)

1. A semiconductor compound of a formula

wherein R 1 is selected from fluorosubstituted alkyl, heterocyclic, aryl and fluorosubstituted aryl moieties, said fluorosubstituted alkyl moieties ranging from C 2 to C 10 ; R 2 and R 3 are independently selected from H, alkyl, fluorosubstituted alkyl, heterocyclic, aryl and fluorosubstituted aryl moieties, said alkyl and fluorosubstituted alkyl moieties ranging from C 2 to C 10 ; each said x is an integer independently ranging from 0 to 8; y is an integer selected from 2 and integers greater than 2; and z is an integer selected from 0 and integers greater than 0.

2. The compound of claim 1 wherein each said x and z are 0, and y is an integer ranging from 4 to 8.

3. The compound of claim 1 wherein R 1 is selected from perfluoroalkyl, phenyl and perfluorophenyl moieties.

4. The compound of claim 3 wherein each said x and z are 0, and y is an integer ranging from 4 to 8.

5. A compound selected from

6. A semiconductor component of an electronic device incorporating one or more compounds of claim 1 .

7. The semiconductor component of claim 6 , wherein said component comprises a composition comprising one or more compounds of claim 1 and a polymer enhancing solubility of said one or more compounds in a solvent.

8. The compound of claim 5 selected from

9. An organic field effect transistor device comprising a semiconductor component comprising one or more compounds of claim 1 .

10. The device of claim 9 wherein said semiconductor component comprises at least one compound exhibiting hole and electron mobilities under device operation conditions.

11. The device of claim 9 wherein said semiconductor component is fabricated with a composition comprising at least one of said compounds and a polymer enhancing solvent solubility of said compounds.

12. The device of claim 9 comprising a semiconductor component comprising at least one said compound exhibiting hole mobility and at least one said compound exhibiting electron mobility, under device operation conditions.
