Abstract

A seat frame of a stadium seat includes a lower cross beam, bench-engaging support arms configured to mount over a top, flat surface of the stadium bench, and upright support members. The upright support members include rounded upper ends that may be rearwardly canted.

Claims (66)

1. A unitary seat frame of a seat for semi-permanent attachment to a stadium bench supported on a stadium riser, wherein the stadium bench includes a top, flat surface for seating, a front portion that extends beyond the stadium riser, opposed, spaced front and rear vertical walls extending downwardly from the top surface, and flanges extending inwardly from the bottom of each wall, the seat frame comprising:

a lower cross beam;

bench-engaging support arms configured to mount over the top, flat surface of the stadium bench; and

upright support members that connect to at least one of said lower cross beam and said bench-engaging support arms, said upright support members comprising exposed blunted upper ends,

wherein said lower cross beam, said bench-engaging support arms, and said upright support members are integrally formed together as a single piece to form the unitary seat frame.

2. The seat frame of claim 1 , wherein said blunted upper ends are rearwardly canted.

3. The seat frame of claim 2 , wherein said blunted upper ends are rearwardly canted at a forty-five degree angle with respect to a vertical plane occupied by said lower cross beam.

4. The seat frame of claim 1 , further comprising at least one angled brace integrally connected to one of said upright support members and said lower cross beam.

5. The seat frame of claim 1 , further comprising at least one mounting receptacle on said lower cross beam.

6. The seat frame of claim 1 , wherein the seat frame is devoid of an upper cross beam connecting upper portions of said upright support members.

The seat frame of claim 1 , further comprising a lower prong integrally connected to one of said bench-engaging support arms through an intermediate upright, wherein a bench retention cavity is defined between said one of said bench-engaging support arms and said lower prong, and wherein the stadium bench is configured to be compressively sandwiched between said one of said bench-engaging support arms and said lower prong.

8. The seat frame of claim 7 , wherein the seat frame is mounted to the stadium bench by urging said seat frame into the stadium bench through a rear end of the stadium bench.

A unitary seat frame of a seat for semi-permanent attachment to a stadium bench supported on a stadium riser, wherein the stadium bench includes a top, flat surface for seating, a front portion that extends beyond the stadium riser, opposed, spaced front and rear vertical walls extending downwardly from the top surface, and flanges extending inwardly from the bottom of each wall, the seat frame comprising:

a lower cross beam;

bench-engaging support arms configured to mount over the top, flat surface of the stadium bench; and

upright support members that are connected to at least one of said lower cross beam and said bench-engaging support arms, said upright support members having upper ends that are rearwardly canted with respect to a vertical plane occupied by said lower cross beam,

wherein said lower cross beam, said bench-engaging support arms, and said upright support members are integrally formed together as a single piece to form the unitary seat frame.

10. The seat frame of claim 9 , wherein said upper ends are rearwardly canted at a forty-five degree angle with respect to the vertical plane occupied by said lower cross beam.

11. The seat frame of claim 9 , further comprising at least one angled brace integrally connected to one of said upright support members and said lower cross beam.

12. The seat frame of claim 9 , further comprising at least one mounting receptacle positioned on said lower cross beam.

13. The seat frame of claim 9 , wherein the seat frame is devoid of an upper cross beam connecting upper portions of said upright support members.

14. The seat frame of claim 9 , further comprising a lower prong integrally connected to one of said bench-engaging support arms through an intermediate upright, wherein a bench retention cavity is defined between said one of said bench-engaging support arms and said lower prong, and wherein the stadium bench is configured to be compressively sandwiched between said one of said bench-engaging support arms and said lower prong.

15. The seat frame of claim 9 , wherein the seat frame is mounted to the stadium bench by urging said seat frame into the stadium bench through a rear end of the stadium bench.

16. A unitary seat frame of a seat for semi-permanent attachment to a stadium bench supported on a stadium riser, wherein the stadium bench includes a top, flat surface for seating, a front portion that extends beyond the stadium riser, opposed, spaced front and rear vertical walls extending downwardly from the top surface, and flanges extending inwardly from the bottom of each wall, the seat frame comprising:

a lower cross beam;

bench-engaging support arms configured to mount over the top, flat surface of the stadium bench;

upright support members that are connected to said lower cross beam;

at least one angled brace connected to one of said upright support members and said lower cross beam,

wherein at least said lower cross beam, said bench-engaging support arms, and said upright support members are integrally formed together as a single piece to form the unitary seat frame.

17. The seat frame of claim 16 , wherein said at least one angled brace connects to a point that is proximate a midpoint of said upright support member.

18. The seat frame of claim 16 , wherein said at least one angled brace connects to a point that is proximate an end of said lower cross beam.

19. The seat frame of claim 16 , further comprising at least one mounting receptacle positioned on said lower cross beam.

20. The seat frame of claim 16 , wherein the seat frame is devoid of an upper cross beam connecting upper portions of said upright support members.

21. The seat frame of claim 16 , further comprising a lower prong integrally connected to one of said bench-engaging support arms through an intermediate upright, wherein a bench retention cavity is defined between said one of said bench-engaging support arms and said lower prong, and wherein the stadium bench is configured to be compressively sandwiched between said one of said bench-engaging support arms and said lower prong.

22. The seat frame of claim 21 , wherein the seat frame is mounted to the stadium bench by urging said seat frame into the stadium bench through a rear end of the stadium bench.

23. A stadium seat for semi-permanent attachment to a stadium bench, the stadium seat comprising:

a unitary seat frame comprising:

a lower cross beam;

bench-engaging support arms configured to mount over a top, flat surface of the stadium bench; and

upright support members that are integrally connected to said lower cross beam, said upright support members comprising blunted upper ends,

wherein said lower cross beam, said bench-engaging support arms, and said upright support members are integrally formed together as a single piece to form said unitary seat frame;

at least one fastening member configured to removably secure said seat frame to the stadium bench;

a seat cushion positioned over said bench-engaging support arms; and

a flexible backrest suspended between said upright support members.

24. The stadium seat of claim 23 , wherein said seat frame further comprises forward hooks integrally formed with said bench-engaging support arms, wherein said forward hooks are configured to hook onto a front of the stadium bench.

25. The stadium seat of claim 23 , wherein said blunted upper ends are rearwardly canted.

26. The stadium seat of claim 25 , wherein said blunted upper ends are rearwardly canted at a forty-five degree angle with respect to a vertical plane occupied by said lower cross beam.

27. The stadium seat of claim 23 , further comprising at least one angled brace integrally connected to one of said upright support members and said lower cross beam.

28. The stadium seat of claim 27 , wherein said at least one angled brace connects to a point that is proximate a midpoint of said upright support member.

29. The stadium seat of claim 27 , wherein said at least one angled brace connects to a point that is proximate an end of said lower cross beam.

30. The stadium seat of claim 23 , further comprising at least one mounting receptacle positioned on said lower cross beam, wherein said at least one fastening member is configured to secure said stadium seat frame to the stadium bench.

31. The stadium seat of claim 23 , further comprising at least one mounting receptacle positioned on said lower cross beam, wherein at least one mounting bracket is configured to removably secure said seat frame to said stadium bench.

32. The stadium seat of claim 23 , wherein said seat frame is devoid of an upper cross beam connecting upper portions of said upright support members.

33. The stadium seat of claim 23 , wherein said seat cushion comprises at least one securing loop that is configured to attach to a portion of said seat frame.

34. The stadium seat of claim 23 , wherein said seat frame comprises a strap securing member, and wherein said seat cushion comprises at least one securing strap that is configured to be secured to said strap securing member.

35. The seat frame of claim 23 , further comprising a lower prong integrally connected to one of said bench-engaging support arms through an intermediate upright, wherein a bench retention cavity is defined between said one of said bench-engaging support arms and said lower prong, and wherein the stadium bench is configured to be compressively sandwiched between said one of said bench-engaging support arms and said lower prong.

36. The seat frame of claim 35 , wherein said seat frame is mounted to the stadium bench by urging said seat frame into the stadium bench through a rear end of the stadium bench.

37. A stadium seat for semi-permanent attachment to a stadium bench, the stadium seat comprising:

a seat frame comprising:

a lower cross beam;

bench-engaging support arms configured to mount over a top, flat surface of the stadium bench;

upright support members that are integrally connected to said lower cross beam, said upright support members comprising blunted upper ends; and

a strap securing member;

at least one fastening member configured to removably secure said seat frame to the stadium bench;

a seat cushion positioned over said bench-engaging support arms, said seat cushion comprising at least one securing strap that is configured to be secured to said strap securing member, wherein said strap is secured to said strap securing member by a clip; and

a flexible backrest suspended between said upright support members.
