Spinosyn-producing polyketide synthases
View Patent ↗The invention provides, biologically active spinosyns, hybrid spinosyn polyketide synthases capable of functioning in Saccharopolyspora spinosa to produce the spinosyns, and methods of controlling insects using the spinosyns.
1. A polynucleotide encoding a hybrid spinosyn polyketide synthase capable of functioning in Saccharopolyspora spinosa to produce a biologically active spinosyn, said hybrid polyketide synthase-encoding polynucleotide comprising a heterologous loading module encoded by a nucleic acid sequence selected from the group consisting of the nucleic acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:8 and the nucleic acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:11, wherein said heterologous loading module-encoding nucleic acid sequence is fused in frame to a nucleic acid encoding a Saccharopolyspora spinosa ketosynthase 1 (KS1) extender module and said KS1 extender module is fused in frame to a plurality of additional Saccharopolyspora spinosa extender modules.
2. The hybrid spinosyn polyketide synthase-encoding polynucleotide of claim 1 comprising the loading module-encoding nucleic acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:8.
3. The hybrid spinosyn polyketide synthase-encoding polynucleotide of claim 1 comprising the loading module-encoding nucleic acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:11.
