Abstract

An image of a picture frame photographed on a photo film is displayed on a screen of an image input device, or is printed out as a hard copy. A graphic image is written by a user in the image of the picture frame, and graphic data of the graphic image is detected from the image of the picture frame having the graphic image written therein. The graphic data is associated with the picture frame, and is transferred from the user to a photofinisher through electronic transmission, or is recorded on a data recording medium which is forwarded to the photofinisher along with the photo film. A synthetic print containing the picture frame and the graphic image is made from the picture frame and the graphic data.

Claims (15)

1. A synthetic image printing method for forming and printing a synthetic image from a handwriting message written by a user and subject image data obtained by an image pickup device, comprising the steps of:

forming and printing out a sample image from said subject image data, said sample image including said subject image;

writing said handwriting message on said sample image;

scanning said sample image with said handwriting message thereon, for extracting handwriting message data; and

forming and printing out said synthetic image from said handwriting message data and said subject image data,

wherein said sample image is printed out such that a density of said subject image is lower than a maximum density given by a density resolution power in said scanning.

2. A synthetic image printing method described in claim 1 , wherein said extraction of said handwriting message data is performed based on a difference between said sample image with said handwriting message digitalized by said scanning and said subject image data.

3. A synthetic image printing method described in claim 1 , wherein said subject image on said sample image has lower density than a density of said handwriting message.

4. A synthetic image print forming apparatus for forming and printing a synthetic image from a handwriting message written by a user and subject image data obtained by an image pickup device, comprising:

an image processor for forming a sample image from said subject image data, said sample image including said subject image;

a printer section for printing out said sample image to said user, said user overwriting said handwriting message on said sample image; and

a scanner section for scanning and digitizing said sample image with said handwriting message thereon as digital data, said image processor extracting handwriting message data from said digital data and forming said synthetic image from said subject image data and said handwriting message data, and said printer section printing out said synthetic images,

wherein said printer section prints out said sample image such that a density of said subject image is lower than a maximum density given by a density resolution power of said scanner section.

5. A synthetic image print forming apparatus described in claim 4 , wherein said image processor extracts said handwriting data based on a difference between said digital data and said subject image data.

6. A synthetic image print forming apparatus described in claim 4 , wherein said subject image on said sample image has lower density than a density of said handwriting message.
