Abstract

An improved image projection lighting device is disclosed. Commands received by a communications port of the base housing may be acted upon to change zoom and focus values of a zoom and focus lens. A cooling system may be provided which compares an input air temperature of the image projection lighting device to an exiting air temperature to determine if a filter needs service. A video projector may project a first image comprised of first, second, and third separate images and the first separate image can be faded up to project light that is void of an image by a first command received at the communications port.

Claims (78)

1. A stage lighting apparatus comprising;

a control system;

a memory;

a first communications port;

a base housing;

a yoke;

a lamp housing;

wherein the lamp housing can be remotely positioned in relation to the base housing by a motor;

wherein the lamp housing is comprised of a projection lens and a first light valve;

wherein the projection lens and the first light valve cooperate to act as a first display device for the projection of images upon a projection surface;

further comprising an integral second display device;

wherein the second display device is a color monitor display and the second display device can display to an operator of the stage lighting apparatus in the separate colors of red, green and blue;

wherein the second display device can display to an operator a first content that is stored in the memory and the first content can be displayed by the second display device as a first image.

2. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 1 wherein

first image is comprised of the separate colors of red, green and blue.

3. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 1 wherein

the first image is a preview of content that can be projected as a second image upon the projection surface by the first display device.

4. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 1 wherein

the second display device can display a third image and the third image is a service alert.

5. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 4 wherein

the service alert is a filter service alert.

6. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 1 wherein

the second display device is a component of the base housing.

7. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 1 wherein

the second display device is a multicolored liquid crystal display.

8. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 1 wherein

the second display device is a multicolored CRT display.

9. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 1 wherein

the second display device is a touch screen display.

10. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 9 wherein

the second display device is of the capacitive type.

11. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 9 wherein

the second display device is of the resistive type.

12. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 1 further comprising

a stand alone control system.

13. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 12 wherein

the second display device is a component of the stand alone control system.

14. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 13 wherein

content varied by the operator can be projected by the first display device as an image upon the projection surface.

15. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 12 wherein

the stand alone control system is further comprised an input keypad.

16. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 12 wherein

the stand alone control system can be used by an operator to create a list of cues.

17. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 12 wherein

the stand alone control system can be used by an operator to create a list of scenes.

18. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 12 wherein

the stand alone control system can be used by an operator vary content.

19. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 12 wherein

the stand alone control system can be used by an operator to vary a parameter of the stage lighting apparatus.

20. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 12 wherein

the stand alone control system can be commanded to fade a projected image.

21. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 1 further comprising

a second light valve and a third light valve and

wherein the second and third light valves cooperate with the first light valve and the projection lens.

22. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 21 wherein

the first, second, and third light valves operate to control the colors of red, green and blue respectively.

23. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 22 further comprising

a projector housing and

wherein the first, second and third light valves are located within the projector housing.

24. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 1 wherein

the first communications port is operational with the DMX protocol.

25. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 1 wherein

the first communications port is operational with a network hub.

26. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 1 wherein

the first communications port is operational computer networking switch.

27. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 1 wherein

the first communications port is operational to receive content.

28. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 27 wherein

the content received is a video image.

29. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 27 wherein

the content received is a computer graphic image.

30. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 1 wherein

the first communications port can transmit service information.

31. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 1 further comprising

a second communications port and

wherein the first communications port is operational with the DMX protocol and the second communications port is operational with a network hub.

32. The stage lighting apparatus of claim 1 further comprising

a second communications port and the first communications port is operational with the DMX protocol and the second communications port is operational with a computer networking switch.
