Abstract

The present invention is related to methods and systems for collected item information for stored items. In one embodiment, a networked food storage system comprises a first sensor configured to read information from item tags coupled to items, wherein the items are stored or intended to be stored in a storage unit. A data store is configured to store food preferences for at least a first user. Instructions, stored in computer readable memory, are configured to: cause a first user interface to be displayed to the first user via which the first user can request a meal suggestion; retrieve preference information for the first user from computer readable memory; retrieve information read from at least a first item tag; and provide a meal suggestion based at least in part on preference information for the first user and item tag information.

Claims (29)

1. An electronic refrigeration system, comprising:

a plurality of refrigeration compartments;

a camera positioned to capture images of items in at least one compartment;

a touch display;

a wireless network interface;

a computing device;

non-transitory memory configured to store digital product images captured by the camera positioned to capture images of items in at least one compartment; and

non-transitory computer readable memory that stores instructions, that, when executed by the computing device, are configured to cause the computing device to perform operations comprising:

conserve power by causing a first device to enter into a low power consumption state when not in use;

cause a product image of at least one product in at least one compartment, captured by the camera positioned to capture images of items in at least one compartment, to be displayed on the refrigeration system touch display;

perform object recognition with respect to the product image of at least one product captured by the camera positioned to capture images of items in at least one compartment;

select a product identifier that corresponds to the product in the product image using at least results from the object recognition;

provide the user with the product identifier using the refrigeration system touch display;

enable the user to access the product identifier of the product captured by the camera positioned to capture images of items in at least one compartment via a webpage by transmitting, using the wireless interface, an identification of the identified product to a remote system, wherein the remote system is configured to provide the product identifier to the user via the webpage;

track expiration dates for one or more products stored in the electronic refrigeration system and generate alerts based on the tracked expiration dates.

2. The refrigeration system as defined in claim 1 , wherein the product identifier is a SKU.

3. The refrigeration system as defined in claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:

cause the product image to be displayed to the user while displaying text intended to identify the product in the product image; and

request that the user indicate whether the text is correct.

4. The refrigeration system as defined in claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:

receive an order authorization from the user, the order including at least the product; and

submit the order based at least in part on the order authorization.

5. The refrigeration system as defined in claim 1 , wherein the product is a food item.

6. The refrigeration system as defined in claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:

generate a first signature from the product image with respect to the product;

locate a product identifier associated with a second signature corresponding to the first signature.

7. The refrigeration system as defined in claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:

include a thumbnail image of the product in a shopping list displayed on the refrigeration system display;

provide an expanded image of the product on the refrigeration system display in response to the user selecting the thumbnail image.
