System and method for facilitating play of a game with user-selected elements

1 . A method for directing a wagering game playable by a player, the method comprising:

determining a set of elements of a wagering game;

assigning, for a current round of the wagering game, each of the elements of the wagering game to at least one of a plurality of locations on a grid;

displaying an image of the grid on a screen of a slot machine such that the respective element assigned to a respective location of the grid is concealed from view of a player playing the wagering game;

determining at least one location of the grid selected by the player during a previous round of the wagering game; and

determining, for the current round of the wagering game, an outcome based on the at least one location.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

revealing to the player the element concealed in the at least one selected location.

3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining locations of the grid that were not previously selected by the player; and

revealing to the player the element concealed in the locations not previously selected.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one element of the set of elements comprises a fruit symbol.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein displaying an image of the grid comprises displaying an image of the grid on a touch screen of the slot machine, wherein each location is associated with a distinct area of the touch screen,

such that determining at least one location of the grid selected by the player during a previous round of the wagering game comprises determining at least one area of the touch screen touched by the player during a previous round of the wagering game.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein determining at least one location of the grid selected by the player during a previous round of the wagering game comprises determining five locations of the grid selected by the player during a previous round of the wagering game.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein determining the outcome comprises:

determining whether the outcome is a winning outcome by determining whether a payout corresponds to the outcome, and

providing the payout, if any, to the player.

8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein determining whether the outcome is a winning outcome is not dependent on an order in which the locations of the grid selected by the player were selected.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the set of elements comprises all possible elements obtainable in the wagering game.

10 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving from the player an indication that the at least one location selected by the player during a previous round of the game is to be used for the current round.

11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein determining the at least one location selected by the player during a previous round of the wagering game comprises determining the at least one location based on information stored in association with a player identifier of the player.

12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the wagering game comprises a wagering game playable on a slot machine.

13 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

selecting, on behalf of the player, the at least one location during the current round of the wagering game.

14 . The method of claim 13 , further comprising:

receiving, from the player, an indication that the at least one location selected by the player during a previous round of the wagering game is to be selected on behalf of the player for the current round of the wagering game; and

performing the selecting on behalf of the player in response to receiving the indication.

15 . The method of claim 1 , wherein assigning comprises:

randomly assigning, for a current round of the wagering game, each of the elements of the wagering game to at least one of a plurality of locations on a grid

16 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the wagering game comprises a video poker game.

17 . An apparatus for facilitating a wagering game playable on a slot machine, the apparatus comprising:

a processor; and

a memory in communication with the processor, the memory storing a program for controlling the processor; and

the processor operative with the program to:

determine a set of elements for a wagering game, the set including all possible elements of the wagering game;

assign, for a current round of the wagering game, each of the elements of the wagering game to at least one of a plurality of locations on a grid;

display an image of the grid on a screen of a slot machine such that the respective element assigned to a respective location of the grid is concealed from view of a player playing the wagering game;

determine at least one location of the grid selected by the player during a previous round of the wagering game; and

determine, for the current round of the wagering game, an outcome based on the at least one location.

18 . A computer-readable medium storing a program, the program being readable by a computing device to cause the computing device to:

determine a set of elements, the set including all possible elements of the wagering game;

assign, for a current round of the wagering game, each of the elements of the wagering game to at least one of a plurality of locations on a grid;

display an image of the grid on a screen of a slot machine such that the respective element assigned to a respective location of the grid is concealed from view of a player playing the wagering game;

determine at least one location of the grid selected by the player during a previous round of the wagering game; and

determine, for the current round of the wagering game, an outcome based on the at least one location.
