Abstract

An organic electro-luminescence device includes a drive unit having first to fourth transistors and a capacitor, and an organic light emitting diode (OLED) controlled by the drive unit, wherein the first transistor has its gate, drain and source connected to a first node, a second node and a power voltage supply line, respectively; the second transistor has its drain and source connected to the OLED and the second node, respectively; the third transistor has its gate, drain and source connected to a first select signal line, the second node and the first node, respectively; the fourth transistor has its gate, drain and source connected to the first select signal line, a data line, and the second node, respectively; and the capacitor is connected to the first node and a predetermined signal line.

Claims (26)

1 . An organic electro-luminescence device comprising:

drive unit including first to fourth transistors and a capacitor; and

n organic light emitting diode (OLED) to emit light under control of the drive unit,

wherein the first transistor has its gate, drain and source connected to a first node, a second node and a power voltage supply line, respectively;

the second transistor has its drain and source connected to the OLED and the second node, respectively;

the third transistor has its gate, drain and source connected to a first select signal line, the second node and the first node, respectively;

the fourth transistor has its gate, drain and source connected to the first select signal line, a data line, and the second node, respectively; and

the capacitor is connected to the first node and a predetermined signal line.

2 . The organic electro-luminescence device according to claim 1 , wherein the first to fourth transistors are transistors with same polarity.

3 . The organic electro-luminescence device according to claim 1 , wherein the second transistor has its gate connected to a second select signal line, and the third and fourth transistors and the second transistor are controlled by signals with a mutually opposite phase.

4 . The organic electro-luminescence device according to claim 1 , wherein the second transistor has its gate connected to the first select signal line, and the third and fourth transistors have opposite polarity to the second transistor.

5 . The organic electro-luminescence device according to claim 1 , wherein the second transistor has its gate connected to the first node.

6 . The organic electro-luminescence device according to claim 1 , wherein the data line is supplied with a data current flowing through the first transistor, and the first node is charged with a drive voltage corresponding to the data current when the third and fourth transistors are activated.

7 . The organic electro-luminescence device according to claim 6 , wherein the voltage charged in the first node is changed by a signal applied to the predetermined signal line, and the data current of the first transistor is changed by the changed voltage.

8 . The organic electro-luminescence device according to claim 7 , wherein a signal applied to the predetermined signal line is a pulse signal, and the data current is changed.

9 . The organic electro-luminescence device according to claim 7 , wherein a signal applied to the predetermined signal line is a data voltage, and the data current has a constant level.

10 . The organic electro-luminescence device according to claim 9 , wherein the data voltage is changed.

11 . The organic electro-luminescence device according to claim 1 , wherein the drive unit further includes a fifth transistor between the capacitor and the predetermined signal line.

12 . The organic electro-luminescence device according to claim 11 , wherein the fifth transistor has its gate connected to the first select signal line, and the fifth transistor has a polarity opposite to that of the third and fourth transistors.

13 . The organic electro-luminescence device according to claim 11 , wherein the fifth transistor has its gate connected to the second select signal line, and the second transistor has a polarity equal to that of the fifth transistor.

A method of driving an organic electro-luminescence device including a drive unit having first to fourth transistors and capacitor, and an organic light emitting diode (OLED) to emit light under control of the drive unit, wherein the first transistor has its gate, drain and source connected to a first node, a second node and a power voltage supply line, respectively, the second transistor has its drain and source connected to the OLED and the second node, respectively, the third transistor has its gate, drain and source connected to a select signal line, the second node and the first node, respectively, the fourth transistor has its gate, drain and source connected to the select signal line, a data line and the second node, respectively, and the capacitor is connected to the first node and a predetermined signal line, the method comprising:

charging a voltage corresponding to a data current supplied to the data line in the first node during a first period; and

emitting light from the OLED in response to a drive current proportional to a changed voltage when the voltage corresponding to the data current is changed by a signal applied to the predetermined signal line during a second period.

15 . The method according to claim 14 , wherein the third and fourth transistors are activated and the second transistor is inactivated by a select signal applied to the select signal line during the charging of the first node.

16 . The method according to claim 15 , wherein the second transistor is inactivated by a signal with a phase opposite to a phase of the select signal.

17 . The method according to claim 14 , wherein a difference value between a voltage corresponding to the data current and a signal applied to the predetermined signal line is charged in the capacitor during the charging of the first node.
