Porous substrates, articles, systems and compositions comprising nanofibers and methods of their use and production
View Patent ↗Porous and/or curved nanofiber bearing substrate materials are provided having enhanced surface area for a variety of applications including as electrical substrates, semipermeable membranes and barriers, structural lattices for tissue culturing and for composite materials, production of long unbranched nanofibers, and the like.
1. A method of producing a vapor absorbing fabric, the method comprising:
providing a porous activated carbon fabric substrate that comprises a plurality of apertures disposed therethrough, the substrate comprising an overall surface area that includes an interior wall surface area of the plurality of apertures; and
providing a plurality of nanocrystals attached to at least a portion of the overall surface area of the activated carbon fabric substrate, which nanocrystals absorb or decompose at least one non-organic gas, wherein the nanocrystals comprise ZnO, CuO, Cu 2 O, Al 2 O 3 , TiO 2 , MgO, FeO, Fe 2 O 3 , MnO 2 , Mn x O y , or Zn, thereby producing the vapor absorbing fabric.
