Abstract

A commutator motor includes a stator and a rotor, and the stator includes a stator yoke and a field magnet. The field magnet is fixed onto the inner peripheral surface of the substantially cylindrical stator yoke. The stator yoke is configured by coaxially stacking a plurality of plate-like annular bodies, and the annular bodies are fixedly connected to each other by caulking at a caulking portion disposed on the annular body. In manufacture, the length of the stator yoke in the axial direction can be arbitrarily changed with the thickness of the annular body in the axial direction as a minimum unit. In case of manufacturing various stator yokes that are different in the axial length, the necessity of replacing a manufacturing machine is eliminated, thereby providing a commutator motor having the stator yoke which is low in the manufacturing costs.

Claims (22)

1. A power tool comprising:

a commutator motor comprising:

a stator comprising a stator yoke having a tubular shape and extending in an axial direction and having an inner peripheral surface and an outer peripheral surface, and a permanent magnet fixed to the inner peripheral surface of the stator yoke for providing a field magnetic pole in the stator, wherein the inner peripheral surface has a circular shape, and wherein the outer peripheral surface has a rounded portion and a linear portion; and

an armature rotatably disposed within the stator, wherein the stator yoke comprises a plurality of plate-like annular bodies having iron parts which are stacked on each other coaxially in the axial direction of the stator yoke, and wherein each of the plurality of plate-like annular bodies has a convex portion and a concave portion to provide a caulking portion, so that plate-like annular bodies adjacent to each other in the stacked direction are fixedly connected to each other by caulking upon engagement of the convex portion with the concave portion;

a housing accommodating therein the commutator motor; and,

a power source that supplies an electric power to the commutator motor;

wherein the stator yoke has a first part defined between the rounded portion and the inner peripheral surface and a second part defined between the linear portion and the inner peripheral surface, a cross-sectional area of a field magnetic path, when viewing in a radial direction of the stator yoke at the first part, being greater than that at the second part, and

wherein the caulking portion is positioned at the first part and between the outer peripheral surface and the inner peripheral surface of the stator yoke.

2. The power tool as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the power source comprises a battery.

3. The power tool of claim 1 , wherein the linear portion is spaced apart from the permanent magnet and located at a radial distance between a radial distance defined by the rounded portion and a radial distance defined by the innermost peripheral surface of the stator yoke.

4. The power tool of claim 1 , wherein the linear part is positioned radially outwardly of the field magnetic pole.

5. The power tool of claim 1 , wherein the permanent magnet has a round shape.

6. The power tool of claim 1 , wherein the permanent magnet has a curvature substantially matching a curvature of the inner peripheral surface of the stator.

7. A power tool comprising:

a commutator motor comprising:

a stator comprising a stator yoke having a tubular shape and extending in an axial direction and having an inner peripheral surface and an outer peripheral surface, and a permanent magnet fixed to the inner peripheral surface of the stator yoke for providing a field magnetic pole in the stator wherein the inner peripheral surface has a circular shape and the permanent magnet has a round shape, and wherein the outer peripheral surface has a rounded portion and a linear portion;

an armature rotatably disposed within the stator, wherein the stator yoke comprises a plurality of plate-like annular bodies having iron parts which are stacked on each other coaxially in the axial direction of the stator yoke, and wherein each of the plurality of plate-like annular bodies has a convex portion and a concave portion, so that plate-like annular bodies adjacent to each other in the stacked direction are fixedly connected to each other by caulking upon engagement of the convex portion with the concave portion;

a housing accommodating therein the commutator motor; and,

a power source that supplies an electric power to the commutator motor;

wherein the stator yoke has a first part between the rounded portion and the inner peripheral surface and a second part defined between the linear portion and the inner peripheral surface, the linear portion being positioned radially outwardly of the field magnetic pole, a cross-sectional area of a field magnetic path, when viewing in a radial direction of the stator yoke at the first part, being greater than that at the second part.

8. The power tool as claimed in claim 7 , wherein the power source comprises a battery.

9. The power tool of claim 7 , wherein the stator yoke comprises a second linear portion other than the linear portion, the second linear portion spaced apart from the permanent magnet.
