Abstract

Methods, compositions and articles of manufacture for contributing to the treatment of a solid cancerous tumor are disclosed. The methods, compositions and articles of manufacture can utilize an endothelin B agonist (ET B ) to enhance the delivery of a chemotherapeutic agent to a solid tumor in mammals, including humans.

Claims (12)

1. A method of selectively increasing delivery of a chemotherapeutic agent to a breast tumor comprising intravenously administering to a mammal in need thereof IRL-1620 and said chemotherapeutic agent, wherein said IRL-1620 selectively increases blood flow to said breast tumor, thereby increasing the delivery of said chemotherapeutic agent to said breast tumor, further wherein said IRL-1620 is administered before said chemotherapeutic agent.

2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the pharmacokinetics of said chemotherapeutic agent are not affected by said IRL-1620.

3. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said IRL-1620 enhances the efficacy of said chemotherapeutic agent.

4. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said chemotherapeutic agent is selected from the group consisting of adriamycin, camptothecin, carboplatin, cisplatin, daunorubicin, doxorubicin, alpha interferon, beta interferon, gamma interferon, interleukin 2, irinotecan, docetaxel, paclitaxel, topotecan, and mixtures thereof.

5. The method according to claim 4 , wherein said chemotherapeutic agent is paclitaxel.

6. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said mammal is a human.

7. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said IRL-1620 is administered at least 15 minutes before said chemotherapeutic agent.

8. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said IRL-1620 is administered 15 minutes to 240 minutes before said chemotherapeutic agent.

9. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said IRL 1620 is administered 15 minutes to 180 minutes before said chemotherapeutic agent.

10. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said IRL 1620 is administered 15 minutes to 120 minutes before said chemotherapeutic agent.

11. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said IRL 1620 is administered 15 minutes to 60 minutes before said chemotherapeutic agent.

12. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said IRL 1620 is administered 15 minutes to 30 minutes before said chemotherapeutic agent.
