Abstract

A photosensitive composition comprising: a hexaarylbiimidazole compound represented by the following formula (I) as defined herein; a sensitizing dye having an absorption maximum in a wavelength range of from 350 to 850 nm; and an addition-polymerizable compound capable of reacting by at least one of a radical and an acid.

Claims (14)

1 . A photosensitive composition comprising:

a hexaarylbiimidazole compound represented by the following formula (I);

a sensitizing dye having an absorption maximum in a wavelength range of from 350 to 850 nm; and

an addition-polymerizable compound capable of reacting by at least one of a radical and an acid;

wherein R 1 to R 6 each independently represents a hydrogen atom or a monovalent non-metallic atomic group, or R 1 to R 3 or R 4 to R 6 may be combined with each other to for an aliphatic or aromatic ring, provided that aromatic rings substituted with R 1 or R 4 of 2-positions have electron donating groups having a negative Hammette's substituent constant on at least one of ortho-positions and metha-positions thereof respectively or aromatic rings substituted with R 2 , R 3 , R 5 or R 6 of 4-positions and 5-positions have electron withdrawing groups having a positive Hammette's substituent constant on at least one of metha-positions and para-positions thereof respectively.

2 . The photosensitive composition as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the hexaarylbiimidazole compound represented by the formula (I) has electron donating groups having a negative Hammette's substituent constant on at least one of ortho-positions and metha-positions of aromatic rings substituted with R 1 or R 4 of 2-positions respectively and electron withdrawing groups having a positive Hammette's substituent constant on at least one of metha-positions and para-positions of aromatic rings substituted with R 2 , R 3 , R 5 or R 6 of 4-positions and 5-positions respectively.

3 . The photosensitive composition as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the addition-polymerizable compound has at least one ethylenically unsaturated double bond.

4 . The photosensitive composition as claimed in claim 2 , wherein the addition-polymerizable compound has at least one ethylenically unsaturated double bond.

5 . The photosensitive composition as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the addition-polymerizable compound has at least two ethylenically unsaturated double bond.

6 . The photosensitive composition as claimed in claim 2 , wherein the addition-polymerizable compound has at least two ethylenically unsaturated double bond.

7 . The photosensitive composition as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising a binder polymer.

8 . The photosensitive composition as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising a binder polymer.

9 . An image-recording material comprising a support and a photosensitive layer containing the photosensitive composition as claimed in claim 1 .

10 . An image-recording method comprising conducting scanning exposure to an image-recording material comprising a support and a photosensitive layer containing the photosensitive composition as claimed in claim 1 with a laser light source having a wavelength of from 350 to 450 nm.
