Abstract

In accordance with the present invention there is provided novel and unique automatic and manual colorant and hair dye dispensers that are easy to operate and provides precision mixing of a large number of colorants and hair dye to make an almost infinite number of colors. The machines are relatively light in weight, easy to operate and maintain and the various components can be readily and easily replaced. In the colorant dispenser this is principally due to the fact that the colorant canisters are supported by a central column and the conventional use of a massive turntable supporting the canisters have been eliminated. In both the automatic and manual illustrated embodiments there is shown six (6) pie-shaped triangular canister units (dispensing units) each including three (3) separate colorant receptacles. There can be more or less dispensing units as desired.

Claims (27)

1 . A liquid container comprising:

a substantially air-impermeable outer shell and having a space for holding liquid;

a liquid outlet for dispensing liquid and a vent hole for admitting air into the liquid container; and

an expandable air-receiving element being placed within the outer shell and defining an air-receiving space for receiving air entering the liquid container via the vent hole, said air-receiving element having a substantially air-impermeable wall, said substantially air-impermeable wall being air-tightly connected to the outer shell and separating the air-receiving space from the space for holding liquid.

2 . The liquid container according to claim 1 , wherein said expandable air-receiving element is an expandable substantially air-impermeable bag.

3 . The liquid container according to claim 1 , wherein said outer shell is made of a rigid, substantially air-impermeable material.

4 . The liquid container according to claim 1 further comprising a follower piston which is placed between said expandable air-receiving element and a space wherein liquid is held.

5 . The liquid container according to claim 1 , wherein said outer shell is cylindrical.

6 . The liquid container according to claim 5 , wherein said liquid outlet is placed at one end of the cylindrical outer shell and said vent hole is placed at an opposed end of the cylindrical outer shell.

7 . A liquid container comprising:

a substantially air-impermeable outer shell and having a hollow interior;

a liquid outlet for dispensing liquid and a vent hole for admitting air into the liquid container; and

a wall positioned within the hollow interior between the vent hole and the outlet to define an air holding chamber and a liquid holding chamber, said wall capable of moving longitudinally as the liquid is dispensed through the liquid outlet and as air enters through the vent hole.

8 . The liquid container of claim 7 , wherein the wall is made of a material which is substantially air-impermeable.

9 . The liquid container of claim 7 further comprising an expandable air-receiving bag being disposed in the air holding chamber and having a first end in communication with the vent hole such that air entering the liquid container via the vent hole enters the air-receiving bag.

10 . The liquid container of claim 9 , wherein the air-receiving bag has a second end in communication with the wall.

11 . The liquid container of claim 10 , wherein the air-receiving bag includes folded segments that unfold when the air-receiving bag fills with air.

12 . The liquid container of claim 11 , wherein the folded segments are positioned perpendicularly to a longitudinal axis defined by the container.

13 . The liquid container of claim 11 , wherein the folded segments are positioned parallel to a longitudinal axis defined by the container.

14 . A liquid container comprising:

a substantially air-impermeable outer shell and having a hollow interior;

a liquid outlet for dispensing liquid and a vent hole for admitting air into the liquid container;

a wall positioned within the hollow interior between the vent hole and the outlet to define an air holding chamber and a liquid holding chamber, said wall capable of moving longitudinally as the liquid is dispensed through the liquid outlet and as air enters through the vent hole; and

an expandable air-receiving bag being disposed in the air holding chamber and having a first end in communication with the vent hole such that air entering the liquid container via the vent hole enters the air-receiving bag.

15 . The liquid container according to claim 14 , wherein said expandable air-receiving bag is made from a substantially air-impermeable material.

16 . The liquid container of claim 15 , wherein the air-receiving bag includes folded segments that unfold when the air-receiving bag fills with air and said folded segments are positioned perpendicularly to a longitudinal axis defined by the container.

17 . The liquid container of claim 15 , wherein the air-receiving bag includes folded segments that unfold when the air-receiving bag fills with air and said folded segments are positioned parallel to a longitudinal axis defined by the container.
