Abstract

Various switchable RFID devices are disclosed. These switchable RFID devices may include one or more RFID tags and one or more switches. In various embodiments, the switchable RFID devices include identity devices, financial devices, remote controls, and the like. In some embodiments switches are configured to enter data into a switchable RFID device, for example to select a financial account.

Claims (32)

1 . A financial device comprising:

an antenna configured to receive a first wireless signal from an RF transmitter;

a power circuit configured to convert the first wireless signal into electronic power;

a circuit configured to receive the electronic power and to send a second wireless signal in response to the first wireless signal; and

a first membrane switch configured to control operation of the circuit under control of a user.

2 . The financial device of claim 1 , wherein the circuit includes a single RIFD tag.

3 . The financial device of claim 1 , wherein the circuit includes a plurality of RIFD tags.

4 . The financial device of claim 1 , wherein the first membrane switch is farther configured for entering a personal identification number or password into the switchable RFID device.

5 . The financial device of claim 1 , wherein the first membrane switch is further configured for entering an identity of an RFID reader.

6 . The financial device of claim 1 , wherein the first membrane switch is further configured for selecting a financial account.

7 . The financial device of claim 1 , wherein the first membrane switch is configured for switching the financial device between an unresponsive state and a responsive state.

8 . The financial device of claim 1 , wherein the financial device comprising the first membrane switch is less than 4 mm think.

9 . The financial device of claim 1 , wherein the first membrane switch includes a spacer that extends throughout essentially all of the financial device.

10 . The financial device of claim 1 , wherein the first membrane switch is essentially flush with a surface of the financial device.

11 . The financial device of claim 1 , wherein the first membrane switch includes a spacer, the spacer having a cavity configured to receive at least part of the circuit.

12 . The financial device of claim 1 , wherein the first membrane switch is disposed at least partially within the antenna.

13 . The financial device of claim 1 , wherein first membrane switch includes a spacer configured to be embossed.

14 . The financial device of claim 1 , wherein the first membrane switch includes a flexible membrane, the flexible membrane including a label indicating a location of the first membrane switch within the financial device.

15 . A financial device comprising:

an antenna configured to receive a first wireless signal from a transmitter;

a power circuit configured to convert the first wireless signal into electronic power;

a circuit configured to receive the electronic power and to send a second wireless signal in response to the first wireless signal; and

a first switch configured to control operation of the circuit under control of a user; and

a second switch configured to control operation of the circuit under control of the user.

16 . The financial device of claim 15 , wherein the first switch and the second switch are configured for entering a personal identification number or password into the RFID device.

17 . The financial device of claim 15 , wherein the first switch is configured for selecting a financial account.

18 . The financial device of claim 15 , wherein the first switch is further included in a communication device.

19 . The financial device of claim 15 , wherein the first switch and the second switch are configured for controlling different RFID tags.

20 . An RFID device comprising:

a plurality of switches configured to control one or more RFID tags;

an antenna configured for sending an RF signal from the one or more RFID tags; and

a circuit configured to generate power for sending the RF signal, the power generated from a wireless signal.
