Abstract

In one embodiment, a method for electrically connecting a stinger into a network node may include installing a non-conductive force exerting means through a port of a closed node housing of a network node. The method may include extending the force exerting means from outside the node housing to within the interior of the network node and adjusting the force exerting means without accessing the interior of the node housing to exert a force on the conductor of a stinger installed within the interior of the network node to contact and forcibly bring the conductor of the stinger into electrical contact with an interface means installed within the interior of the network node to establish an electrical interface and seize the conductor of the stinger within the interior of the network node.

Claims (9)

1. A method for electrically interfacing a conductor of a stinger within a network node having a closed node housing without opening the node housing or accessing an interior of the network node, comprising:

installing a non-conductive force exerting means through a port of a closed node housing of a network node to extend the non-conductive force exerting means from outside the node housing to within the interior of the network node and adjusting the non-conductive force exerting means from the exterior of the node housing without accessing the interior of the node housing to exert a force on the conductor of a stinger installed within the interior of the network node to contact and forcibly bring the conductor of the stinger into electrical contact with an interface means installed within the interior of the network node to establish an electrical interface and seize the conductor of the stinger within the interior of the network node.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

partially removing the non-conductive force exerting means from the closed node housing without accessing the interior of the network node to provide clearance between the conductor of the stinger and the interface means; and

removing the stinger from the network node.

3. The method of claim 2 , further comprising:

installing a second stinger into the network node with the node housing closed with the non-conductive force exerting means partially removed.

4. The method of claim 3 , further comprising:

tightening the non-conductive force exerting means without accessing the interior of the network node to exert a force on a conductor of the second stinger to forcibly bring the conductor of the second stinger into electrical contact with the interface means to establish an electrical interface and seize the conductor of the second stinger within the closed network node.
