Abstract

A receiver for an animal training collar which includes a receiver housing with a first electrode terminal and a second electrode terminal each accessible from an outside of the receiver housing. A pair of electrodes is connected to the first electrode terminal and the second electrode. A circuit board is connected to the first electrode terminal and the second electrode terminal on the outside of the receiver housing and between the pair of electrodes and the receiver housing, wherein the pair of electrodes extend from the circuit board.

Claims (34)

1. A receiver for an animal training collar, comprising:

a receiver housing including a first electrode terminal and a second electrode terminal each accessible from an outside of said receiver housing;

a pair of electrodes connected to said first electrode terminal and said second electrode; and

a circuit board connected to said first electrode terminal and said second electrode terminal on said outside of said receiver housing and between said pair of electrodes and said receiver housing, wherein said pair of electrodes extend from said circuit board.

2. The receiver of claim 1 , further including an impedance element mounted on said circuit board.

3. The receiver of claim 2 , wherein said impedance element includes a first impedance terminal and a second impedance terminal, said pair of electrodes comprises a first electrode directly electrically connected to said first electrode terminal and a second electrode directly electrically connected to said second impedance terminal, said first impedance terminal directly electrically connected to said second electrode terminal.

4. The receiver of claim 3 , wherein said circuit board includes a plurality of electrical traces electrically interconnecting said impedance element, said second electrode and said second electrode terminal.

5. The receiver of claim 2 , wherein said impedance element is a resistor.

6. The receiver of claim 5 , wherein said resistor has a resistance value in a range of approximately between 10 Ω and 2 MΩ.

7. The receiver of claim 6 , wherein said resistance value is one of 30 Ω, 30 kΩ, 100 kΩ, 300 kΩ and 1 MΩ.

8. The receiver of claim 2 , wherein said impedance element includes a plurality of resistors which are switch selectable.

9. The receiver of claim 1 , further including a collar connected to said receiver.

10. An animal training system, comprising:

a transmitter;

a receiver in wireless communication with said transmitter, said receiver including:

a receiver housing including a first electrode terminal and a second electrode terminal each accessible from an outside of said receiver housing;

a pair of electrodes connected to said first electrode terminal and said second electrode; and

a circuit board connected to said first electrode terminal and said second electrode terminal on said outside of said receiver housing and between said pair of electrodes and said receiver housing, wherein said pair of electrodes extend from said circuit board.

11. The animal training system of claim 10 , further including an impedance element mounted on said circuit board.

12. The animal training system of claim 11 , wherein said impedance element includes a first impedance terminal and a second impedance terminal, said pair of electrodes comprises a first electrode directly electrically connected to said first electrode terminal and a second electrode directly electrically connected to said second impedance terminal, said first impedance terminal directly electrically connected to said second electrode terminal.

13. The animal training system of claim 12 , wherein said circuit board includes a plurality of electrical traces electrically interconnecting said impedance element, said second electrode and said second electrode terminal.

14. The animal training system of claim 11 , wherein said impedance element is a resistor.

15. The animal training system of claim 14 , wherein said resistor has a resistance value in a range of approximately between 10 Ω and 2 MΩ.

16. The animal training system of claim 15 , wherein said resistance value is one of 30 Ω, 30 kΩ, 100 kΩ, 300 kΩ and 1 MΩ.

17. The animal training system of claim 11 , wherein said impedance element includes a plurality of resistors which are switch selectable.

18. The animal training system of claim 10 , further including a collar connected to said receiver.

19. A method of providing different levels of stimulation in a receiver for an animal training collar, comprising the steps of:

providing a receiver including a receiver housing having a first electrode terminal and a second electrode terminal each accessible from an outside of said receiver housing; and

connecting a circuit board to said first electrode terminal and said second electrode terminal on said outside of said receiver housing and between a pair of electrodes and said housing.

20. The method of claim 19 , further including the step of selecting an impedance element.

21. The method of claim 20 , further including the step of mounting said impedance element on said circuit board.

22. The method of claim 21 , wherein said impedance element has a first impedance terminal and a second impedance terminal, said first impedance terminal directly connected to said second electrode terminal.

23. The method of claim 20 , wherein said pair of electrodes includes a first electrode and a second electrode, further including the step of directly electrically connecting said first electrode to said first electrode terminal.

24. The method of claim 23 , wherein said impedance element includes a first impedance terminal and a second impedance terminal, further including the step of directly electrically connecting said second electrode to said second impedance terminal.
