Abstract

Systems and methods for providing a low power receiver device using fine grained time division are provided. In one embodiment, the receiver device comprises a tuner, a demodulator configured to demodulate at least one sampled signal, a payload processor configured to process at least one demodulated signal into an output format, and a time division control logic configured to generate a control signal to switch at least one component within the receiver device between modes to conserve power. The at least one component may be switched between an active mode, a standby mode, a power off mode, and a low power mode. In further embodiments, the at least one component may be switched between staggered modes.

Claims (25)

1. A system for power conservation in a receiver device, comprising:

a tuner configured to receive a signal;

a demodulator configured to demodulate at least one sampled signal;

a payload processor configured to process at least one demodulated signal into an output format;

time division control logic stored in memory and executable by a processor to generate a control signal to switch at least one component within the receiver device between modes to conserve power; and

circuitry for determining time slots in main service channel data corresponding to data that belongs to a service requested by a user, the time slot information being utilized by the time division control logic to generate the control signal.

2. The system of claim 1 wherein the modes comprise an active mode.

3. The system of claim 1 wherein the modes comprise c standby mode.

4. The system of claim 1 wherein the modes comprise a power off mode.

5. The system of claim 1 wherein the modes comprise a low power mode.

6. The system of claim 1 wherein the modes comprises a plurality of staggered modes.

7. The system of claim 1 wherein the time division control logic is further executable to determine the at least one component in which to switch modes.

8. A method for conserving power in a receiver device, comprising:

receiving a signal;

demodulating at least one sampled signal of the received signal;

processing at least one demodulated signal into an output format;

generating a control signal to switch at least one component within the receiver device between modes to conserve power; and

determining time slots in main service channel data corresponding to data that belongs to a service requested by a user, the time slot information being utilized to generate the control signal.

9. The method of claim 8 wherein the modes comprise an active mode.

10. The method of claim 8 wherein the triodes comprise a standby mode.

11. The method of claim 8 wherein the modes comprise a power off mode.

12. The method of claim 8 wherein the modes comprise a low power mode.

13. The method of claim 8 wherein generating the control signal comprises generating a control signal which transitions the at least one component between a plurality of staggered modes.

14. The method of claim 8 further comprising determining the at least one component in which to switch modes.

15. The method of claim 8 further comprising determining when to wake up the at least one component when the at least one component is in a standby or power off mode.
