Abstract

Systems and methods for playing live casino games. The systems have changeable displays which portray virtual playing cards or symbols to live participants. Shuffling, cutting, dealing and return of playing cards are accomplished using data processing functions within an electronic game processor or processors which enable these functions to be performed quickly and without manual manipulation of playing cards. The invention allows casinos to speed play and reduce the risk of cheating while maintaining the attractive ambiance of a live table game. The systems can also be multi-user slot machines using the processor to associate or assign one or more symbols either with the virtual playing cards or as slot symbols in participant subsets. The participant subsets are compared to a predetermined list so that payoffs can be awarded on the basis of winning symbols or combinations of symbols.

Claims (484)

1. A system for playing a casino table game involving wagering by a plurality of participants who attend and participate in the game about the system at a live game location, comprising:

a plurality of participant displays which provide a plurality of changeable participant display images, the plurality of participant display images including virtual symbol images assigned to the participants which are displayed by the plurality of participant displays;

a tangible processor-readable storage medium containing instructions;

at least one game processor in communication with the tangible processor-readable storage medium, the game processor executing the instructions to perform:

providing house rules which at least partially administer play of the game;

assigning virtual symbols from a virtual symbol set to the participants;

instructing the participant video displays to display virtual symbol images depending upon the virtual symbols assigned to the participants;

analyzing the virtual symbols assigned to each participant to determine a single best strategy for each individual participant with respect to currently applicable rules of said house rules generated by said at least one game processor;

displaying to each individual participant the best strategy based on the virtual symbols assigned to that participant;

wherein the best strategy recommends a next play for the individual participant to optimize a chance of winning the table game;

wherein the best strategy determination is calculated from applying one or more strategy tables to a data structure containing information about each participant and the virtual symbols assigned to each participant; and

wherein the system automatically updates each best strategy in response to editing the house rules.

2. A system according to claim 1 wherein the at least one game processor further functions to display virtual symbols assigned to another participant.

3. A system according to claim 1 wherein the at least one game processor further functions to display whether the individual participant has won an award.

4. A system according to claim 1 wherein the at least one game processor generates the best strategy based at least in part on virtual symbols assigned to a dealer participant.

5. A system according to claim 1 wherein the at least one game processor further functions to display which participant is actively playing.

6. A system according to claim 1 wherein the at least one game processor further functions to display virtual symbols assigned to another participant who is actively playing.

7. A system according to claim 1 wherein the at least one game processor further functions to display virtual symbols assigned to the individual participant playing a display, another participant who is actively playing and a dealer participant.

8. A system according to claim 1 wherein the best strategy is additionally based upon at least one symbol assigned to another participant.

9. A system according to claim 1 wherein the best strategy is additionally based upon at least one symbol assigned to a dealer participant.

10. A system according to claim 1 wherein the at least one game processor functions to display virtual symbols which are virtual cards.

11. A system according to claim 1 wherein the at least one game processor further functions to display virtual symbols which are virtual slot symbols.

12. A method for displaying information to a participant playing a casino table game of blackjack involving wagering by a plurality of participants who attend and participate in the game about a live game location, the method comprising:

providing a plurality of changeable participant displays for displaying game action to the live participants;

displaying virtual symbol images upon the participant displays representative of virtual symbols representing playing cards and card hands assigned to the participants;

displaying a best strategy to recommend a next play for the participant to optimize a chance of winning the casino table game of blackjack based upon the virtual symbols assigned to the participant;

wherein displaying the best strategy includes utilizing a processor associated with the casino table game for:

analyzing the virtual symbols assigned to each participant and generating the best strategy by applying one or more strategy tables to a data structure containing status information of each participant and of the virtual symbols representing playing cards and card hands assigned to each participant;

wherein the best strategy is calculated based on

a first value of a face-up card of a dealer;

a second value of a count of the card hand of the participant including, when aces are present in the card hand, a difference in

value of the card hand depending on whether an ace is counted as

having a value of 11 or as having a value of 1;

wherein generating the best strategy also includes counting splits to limit the splits to a maximum number of splits;

wherein a default strategy table that has the second value consisting of the count of the card hand of the participant plotted against the first value consisting of the value of the face-up card of the dealer and that uses the abbreviations H=hit, S=stand, D=double-down; P=split, A=ace, D/P=Dealer/Player, comprises
