Abstract

Systems and methods for a design and runtime environment provide navigation maps using a declarative model defined by recording actual manipulation of a physical or virtual device. The systems and methods may be used to automatically navigate to application screens eliminating need for a test engineer to provide navigation code.

Claims (32)

1 . A method comprising:

providing an interface to specify at least a source screen and a target screen for a device under test; and

storing in a navigation map a set of one or more commands that specify a transition from the source screen to the target screen.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising recording the set of one or more commands that specify the transition from the source screen to the target screen.

3 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:

displaying a virtual device representing the device under test;

recording stimulus from the virtual device to form the set of one or more commands.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein specifying the source screen and the target screen comprise selecting a graphical screen image of the source screen and a graphical image of the target screen.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the navigation map comprises a plurality of transitions between one or more source screens and one or more target screens.

6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the navigation map comprises a declarative model specifying the transitions.

7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying a graphical representation of the navigation map, the graphical representation including screen images of a set of screens in the navigation map.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the graphical representation includes an indication of a current screen of the device under test.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the graphical representation includes graphical indicators of the transitions between the set of screens in the navigation map.

10 . A method comprising:

receiving a command that specifies a target screen for a device under test;

determining a current screen for the device under test;

interpreting a navigation map comprising a set of one or more stored commands that specify a transition from the current screen to the target screen.

11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the command is received as a result of executing test logic.

12 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the command is received as a result of a screen selection within a navigation map editor.

13 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the set of one or more stored commands specify a transition to at least one intermediate screen between the current screen and the target screen.

14 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising issuing the commands to the device under test.

15 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising displaying a graphical representation of the navigation map, wherein the graphical representation includes an indication of the current screen of the device under test.

16 . A system comprising:

a test development environment;

a repository communicably coupled to the test development environment;

a navigation map user interface operable to:

receive a specification of at least a source screen and a target screen for a device under test; and

store in the repository a navigation map including a set of one or more commands that specify a transition from the source screen to the target screen; and

a device under test communicably coupled to the test development environment.

17 . The system of claim 16 , further comprising a virtual device module to display a representation of a device under test, the representation including a current screen of the device under test.

18 . The system of claim 17 , wherein the virtual device is operable to receive stimulus that is forwarded to the device under test.

19 . The system of claim 17 , wherein the device under test is an emulated device.
