Abstract

A system that employs an explicitly and/or implicitly trained model in order to return entity-specific computer-based search results is provided. The innovation can provide for a customized search model that focuses search in connection with achieving information that is meaningful with respect to goals of an entity. The model can be used to modify a search query in accordance with a goal of the entity or to generate the search query thereby returning meaningful and/or targeted results to the user. The system can automatically gather entity-related data thereafter determining or inferring a goal as well as training the model. Moreover, the system can selectively configure (e.g., order, rank, filter) and render results to a user based upon the model.

Claims (30)

1 . A system that facilitates computer-based search that corresponds to an entity, comprising:

a search model generator that trains a model with data that corresponds to the entity; and

an entity-specific search component that dynamically employs the model to generate a search query and provide entity-centric search results as a function of the trained model; the trained model focuses the search query in connection with achieving results that are meaningful with respect to a goal of the entity.

2 . The system of claim 1 , the search model generator mines an entity data source to identify the data.

3 . The system of claim 2 , the entity data source is at least one of an entity intranet, an entity server and an entity data store.

4 . The system of claim 2 , the search model generator applies a plurality of weight factors to the data as a function of the entity data source to train the model.

5 . The system of claim 1 , the search model generator employs a role of a user to train the model.

6 . The system of claim 1 , the entity-centric search results are a plurality of targeted advertisements, the entity-specific search component pushes a subset of the plurality of targeted advertisements to a user.

7 . The system of claim 1 , the entity-specific search component employs a utility-based analysis to modify the search query based upon an objective of the entity and facilitates identification of search results based upon the modified search query.

8 . The system of claim 7 , the utility-based analysis is a probabilistic-based analysis.

9 . The system of claim 7 , the utility-based analysis is a statistical-based analysis.

10 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising a search engine that employs the search query to obtain the plurality of search results.

11 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising a goal determination component that facilitates determination of the goal by at least one of inquiry and inference.

12 . The system of claim 1 , the entity-specific search component further comprises a rendering component that configures a subset of the search results as a function of the goal.

13 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising a machine learning and reasoning component that infers an action that a user desires to be automatically performed.

14 . A computer-implemented method of performing an entity-specific computer search, comprising:

data mining an entity-specific data source to determine a goal of an entity;

training a model based upon the goal of the entity; and

executing a search query based at least in part upon the model.

15 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising determining the goal of the entity by at least one of eliciting the goal from a user and inferring the goal based upon data related to the entity.

16 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising:

modifying the search query as a function of a role of a user; and

obtaining results based upon the modified query.

17 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising organizing a subset of the results based at least in part upon the goal.

18 . A computer-implemented search system, comprising:

means for training a search model as a function of an entity goal;

means for biasing a search query based upon the model; and

means for identifying a plurality of search results based upon the biased search query.

19 . The computer-implemented system of claim 18 , further comprising means for establishing the entity goal.

20 . The computer-implemented search system of claim 19 , the means for establishing the entity goal is a data-mining operation.
