Liquid crystal display and thin film transistor array panel therefor
View Patent ↗A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate including a first electrode and a second electrode formed thereon, a second substrate including a third electrode formed thereon, wherein the second substrate is spaced apart from the first substrate by a gap, and at least one cutout formed in the third electrode, wherein the at least one cutout is aligned with a space between the first and second electrodes.
1. liquid crystal display, comprising:
a first substrate including a pixel electrode having a first portion and a second portion formed thereon;
a second substrate including a common electrode formed thereon, wherein the second substrate is spaced apart from the first substrate by a gap;
at least one data line formed on the first substrate; and
at least two transistors formed on the first substrate,
wherein the first portion and the second portion are connected to the at least two transistors, respectively, and
wherein the first portion and the second portion are connected to each other.
2. The liquid crystal display as recited in claim 1 , wherein the transistors are symmetrically disposed with respect to a data line direction.
3. The liquid crystal display as recited in claim 2 , wherein a pair of the transistors includes the at least one gate electrode, at least one source electrode, at least two drain electrodes and at least one semiconductor island.
4. The liquid crystal display as recited in claim 2 , wherein the data line is interposed between the first and second portions of the pixel.
5. The liquid crystal display as recited in claim 4 , wherein the first and second portions overlap the data line.
6. The liquid crystal display as recited in claim 5 , further comprising at least one cutout formed in the common electrode,
wherein the at least one cutout is aligned with a space between the second portion of the pixel electrode and the first portion of the adjacent pixel electrode.
7. The liquid crystal display as recited in claim 6 , wherein a width of the cutout is wider than a width of the space between the second portion of the pixel electrode and the first portion of the adjacent pixel electrode
8. The liquid crystal display as recited in claim 2 , further comprising at least one cutout formed in the common electrode,
wherein the at least one cutout is aligned with a space between the second portion of the pixel electrode and the first portion of the adjacent pixel electrode.
9. The liquid crystal display as recited in claim 1 , wherein the data line is interposed between the first and second portions of the pixel.
10. The liquid crystal display as recited in claim 9 , further comprising at least one cutout formed in the common electrode,
wherein the at least one cutout is aligned with a space between the second portion of the pixel electrode and the first portion of the adjacent pixel electrode.
11. The liquid crystal display as recited in claim 10 , wherein the first and second portions overlap the data line.
12. The liquid crystal display as recited in claim 10 , wherein the transistors are symmetrically disposed with respect to the data line direction.
13. The liquid crystal display as recited in claim 12 , wherein a pair of the transistors includes the at least one gate electrode, at least one source electrode, at least two drain electrodes and at least one semiconductor island.
14. The liquid crystal display as recited in claim 13 , wherein a width of the cutout is wider than a width of the space between the second portion of the pixel electrode and the first portion of the adjacent pixel electrode.
