Abstract

Apparatus and method for detecting and interfering with an unauthorized device attempting to acquire user identification information at cash dispensing automated banking machine. The apparatus includes a sensing device enabled to detect RF or other radiation transmitted from the unauthorized device in a proximity of the machine. A controller causes the machine to take at least one action responsive to detection of the unauthorized device. The action may include generating a warning screen on the machine display, capturing an image, sending a message to an entity at a remote location, or emitting interfering radiation from an emitter.
