System and Methods for Perfoming Online Purchase of Delivery of Service to a Handheld Device
A handheld electronic device for use at a venue hosting a live sporting event, having a receiver for receiving a wireless RF transmission conveying a plurality of video streams derived from video cameras filming the live sporting event, a display and a user interface for selecting a video stream among the plurality of video streams to be displayed on the display. The handheld electronic device is capable to acquire a locked mode of operation and an unlocked mode of operation, in the locked mode of operation the handheld electronic device being precluded from displaying the video streams to a spectator, in the unlocked mode of operation the handheld electronic device being enabled to display the video streams to the spectator, the handheld electronic device capable to acquire the unlocked mode of operation in response to reception of authentication data wirelessly transmitted to the handheld electronic device.
1 ) A computer device, comprising:
a) a user interface;
b) a data network interface for connection to a data network;
c) said computer device allowing a user to communicate with a remote entity in the data network via said user interface to perform an online purchase of delivery of service to a handheld electronic device for use at a venue hosting a live sporting event, wherein the service includes delivering to the handheld electronic device a wireless RF transmission containing two or more video streams conveying live sporting event content, the live sporting event content including moving images of action occurring at the live sporting event held at the venue, the handheld electronic device including a selector allowing a spectator to select among the two or more video streams and a display for viewing the selected video stream.
2 ) A computer device as defined in claim 1 , wherein at least two of the video streams are derived from cameras filming the live sporting event and convey different views of the action.
3 ) A computer device as defined in claim 2 , wherein the live sporting event is a car race.
4 ) A computer device as defined in claim 3 , wherein said computer device is capable of requesting the user via the user interface to supply identification information to enable the online purchase of delivery of service.
5 ) A computer device as defined in claim 4 , wherein said computer device is capable of requesting the user via the user interface to supply the identification information in response to data sent from the remote entity.
6 ) A computer device as defined in claim 5 , wherein said identification information includes a user name.
7 ) A computer device as defined in claim 5 , wherein said identification information includes a password.
8 ) A computer device as defined in claim 3 , wherein said computer device is capable of requesting the user via the user interface to supply payment instrument information to enable the online purchase of delivery of service.
9 ) A computer device as defined in claim 3 , wherein said computer device is capable of requesting the user via the user interface to supply the payment instrument information in response to data sent from the remote entity.
10 ) A computer device as defined in claim 9 , wherein the payment instrument information is selected in the group consisting of credit card number, bank card number and electronic payment service information.
11 ) A computer device as defined in claim 3 , wherein said computer device is capable of requesting the user via the user interface to supply information identifying the live sporting event for which the online purchase of delivery of service is desired.
12 ) A computer device as defined in claim 11 , wherein said computer device is capable of requesting the user via the user interface to supply the information identifying the live sporting event in response to data sent from the remote entity.
13 ) A computer device as defined in claim 3 , wherein service can be delivered to the handheld electronic device in two or more service levels, said computer device is capable of requesting the user via the user interface to supply information identifying a level of service.
14 ) A computer device as defined in claim 13 , wherein said computer device is capable of requesting the user via the user interface to supply the information identifying the level of service in response to data sent from the remote entity.
15 ) A data network entity for use in a data network, the data network entity capable of establishing a data communication with a remote computer device via the data network, said data network entity comprising:
a) a data communication interface for connection to the data network;
b) a computing platform for directing an exchange of information with the remote computer via the data network allowing a user at the remote computer device to perform an online purchase of delivery of service to a handheld electronic device for use at a venue hosting a live sporting event, wherein the service includes delivering to the handheld electronic device a wireless RF transmission containing two or more video streams conveying live sporting event content, the live sporting event content including moving images of action occurring at the live sporting event held at the venue, the handheld electronic device including a selector allowing user to select among the two or more video streams and a display for viewing the selected video stream.
16 ) A data network entity as defined in claim 15 , wherein the data network includes the Internet.
17 ) A data network entity as defined in claim 16 , wherein at least two of the video streams are derived from cameras filming the live sporting event and convey different views of the action.
18 ) A data network entity as defined in claim 17 , wherein the live sporting event is a car race.
19 ) A data network entity as defined in claim 18 , wherein said computing platform causes said data communication interface to send data to the remote computer for causing the remote computer to requesting the user to supply at the remote computer identification information to enable the online purchase of delivery of service.
20 ) A data network entity as defined in claim 19 , wherein the identification information includes a user name.
21 ) A data network entity as defined in claim 20 , wherein the identification information includes a password.
22 ) A data network entity as defined in claim 18 , wherein said computing platform causes said data communication interface to send data to the remote computer for causing the remote computer to request the user to supply at the remote computer payment instrument information to enable the online purchase of delivery of service.
23 ) A data network entity as defined in claim 22 , wherein the payment instrument information is selected in the group consisting of credit card number, bank card number and electronic payment service information.
24 ) A data network entity as defined in claim 18 , wherein said computing platform causes said data communication interface to send data to the remote computer for causing the remote computer to request the user to supply at the remote computer information identifying the live sporting event for which the online purchase of delivery of service is desired.
25 ) A data network entity as defined in claim 18 , wherein service can be delivered to the handheld electronic device in two or more service levels, said computing platform causes said data communication interface to send data to the remote computer for causing the remote computer to request the user to supply at the remote computer information identifying a level of service.
26 ) A data network entity as defined in claim 18 , wherein the data network entity is a network server.
27 ) A process for performing an online purchase of service delivery to a handheld electronic device, the handheld electronic device for use at a venue hosting a live sporting event, wherein the service includes delivering to the handheld electronic device a wireless RF transmission containing two or more video streams conveying live sporting event content, the live sporting event content including moving images of action occurring at the live sporting event held at the venue, the handheld electronic device including a selector allowing a user to select among the two or more video streams and a display for viewing the selected video stream, said process comprising:
a) accessing a web site via a computer device in communication via a remote network entity hosting a web site;
b) supplying to the web site identification information to enable the online purchase of service delivery to the handheld electronic device.
28 ) A process as defined in claim 27 , wherein at least two of the video streams are derived from cameras filming the live sporting event and convey different views of the action.
29 ) A process as defined in claim 28 , wherein the identification information includes a user name.
30 ) A process as defined in claim 29 , wherein the identification information includes a password.
31 ) A process as defined in claim 29 , including supplying to the web site payment instrument information.
32 ) A process as defined in claim 31 , wherein the payment instrument information is selected in the group consisting of credit card number, bank card number and electronic payment service information, to pay for the purchase of service delivery to the handheld electronic device.
33 ) A process as defined in claim 28 , including supplying to the web site information identifying the live sporting event for which the online purchase of delivery of service is desired.
34 ) A data network entity as defined in claim 28 , including supplying to the web site information identifying a level of service.
35 ) A data network entity for use in a data network, the data network entity capable of establishing a data communication sessions with remote computer devices via the data network, said data network entity comprising:
a) a data communication interface for connection to the data network;
b) a computing platform for:
i) directing exchanges of information with remote computer devices via the data network allowing users at the remote computer devices to perform online purchases of delivery of service to respective handheld electronic device, each handheld electronic device being intended for use at a venue hosting a live sporting event, wherein the service includes delivering to the handheld electronic device a wireless RF transmission containing two or more video streams conveying live sporting event content, the live sporting event content including moving images of action occurring at the live sporting event held at the venue, the handheld electronic device including a selector allowing a spectator to select among the two or more video streams and a display for viewing the selected video stream;
ii) building a list of handheld electronic devices for which an online purchase of delivery of service has been made.
36 ) A data network entity as defined in claim 35 , wherein at least two of the video streams are derived from cameras filming the live sporting event and convey different views of the action.
37 ) A data network entity as defined in claim 36 , including a storage medium for storing the list.
38 ) A process for placing data in a handheld electronic device, the handheld electronic device for use at a venue hosting a live sporting event, wherein the handheld electronic device is capable of receiving at the live sporting event a wireless RF transmission containing two or more video streams conveying live sporting event content, the live sporting event content including moving images of action occurring at the live sporting event held at the venue, the handheld electronic device including a selector allowing a spectator to select among the two or more video streams and a display for viewing the selected video stream, said process comprising:
a) accessing a web site via a computer device in communication via a remote network entity hosting a web site;
b) receiving from the remote network entity data for placement in the handheld electronic device;
c) establishing a data communication between the computer device and the handheld electronic device;
d) transferring the data from the computer device to the handheld electronic device.
39 ) A process as defined in claim 38 , wherein at least two of the video streams are derived from cameras filming the live sporting event and convey different views of the action.
40 ) A process as defined in claim 39 , wherein the data transferred to the handheld electronic device is data capable of setting a user interface of the handheld electronic device.
41 ) A process as defined in claim 40 , wherein said the user interface includes at least one menu, the data setting the menu.
42 ) A process as defined in claim 41 , wherein the data sets one or more graphical elements of the menu.
43 ) A process as defined in claim 41 , wherein the menu has a plurality of option items, the data sets a disposition of the option items on the display.
44 ) A process as defined in claim 43 , wherein the data sets a shape of one or more of the option items.
45 ) A process as defined in claim 43 , wherein the data sets a color of one or more of the option items.
46 ) A process as defined in claim 41 , wherein the data defines options under the menu that are available for selection by user of the handheld electronic device, wherein a selection of an option triggers an action to be performed by the handheld electronic device.
47 ) A process as defined in claim 40 , wherein said user interface includes a background image, the data setting the background image as it appears on the display.
48 ) A process as defined in claim 40 , wherein said user interface includes soft keys, the data setting functional assignments of the soft keys.
49 ) A process as defined in claim 40 , wherein said user interface includes soft keys, the data setting one or more aesthetical components of the soft keys as they appear on the display.
50 ) A process as defined in claim 49 , wherein the data sets a location of one or more of the soft keys on the display.

74 ) A process as defined in claim 39 , wherein the data transferred to the handheld electronic device conveys cartographic information allowing the handheld electronic device to display to the spectator a map of the venue.
75 ) A process as defined in claim 74 , wherein the handheld electronic device includes a GPS receiver allowing the handheld electronic device to display on the map of the venue a location of the handheld electronic device.
76 ) A process as defined in claim 39 , wherein the data transferred to the handheld electronic device conveys information allowing the handheld electronic device to decrypt data in the wireless RF transmission.
77 ) A data network entity for use in a data network, the data network entity capable of establishing a data communication with a remote computer device via the data network, said data network entity comprising:
a) a data communication interface for connection to the data network;
b) a computing platform for:
i) directing an exchange of information with the remote computer via the data network allowing a user at the remote computer device to perform an online purchase of delivery of service to a handheld electronic device for use at a venue hosting a live sporting event, wherein the service includes delivering to the handheld electronic device a wireless RF transmission containing two or more video streams conveying live sporting event content, the live sporting event content including moving images of action occurring at the live sporting event held at the venue, the handheld electronic device including a selector allowing a spectator to select among the two or more video streams and a display for viewing the selected video stream;
ii) transmit data to the remote for computer via the data network, the data being suitable for placement in the handheld electronic device.
78 ) A data network entity as defined in claim 77 , wherein at least two of the video streams are derived from cameras filming the live sporting event and convey different views of the action.
79 ) A data network entity as defined in claim 78 , wherein the data when transferred to the handheld electronic device is capable of setting a user interface of the handheld electronic device.
80 ) A data network entity as defined in claim 79 , wherein the user interface includes a menu, the data configuring the menu.
81 ) A data network entity as defined in claim 78 , wherein the data conveys venue or live sporting event contextual information, when the data is transferred to the handheld electronic device, the handheld electronic device being capable of communicating the venue or live sporting event contextual information to a spectator.
82 ) A data network entity as defined in claim 81 , wherein the venue or live sporting event contextual information is displayed on the display of the handheld electronic device.
83 ) A data network entity as defined in claim 82 , wherein the venue or live sporting event contextual information includes a map of the venue.

c) said computer device allowing a user to communicate with a remote entity in the data network via said user interface to set an online account for performing an online purchase of delivery of service to a handheld electronic device for use at a venue hosting a live sporting event, wherein the service includes delivering to the handheld electronic device a wireless RF transmission containing two or more video streams conveying live sporting event content, the live sporting event content including moving images of action occurring at the live sporting event held at the venue, the handheld electronic device including a selector allowing a spectator to select among the two or more video streams and a display for viewing the selected video stream.
100 ) A computer device as defined in claim 99 , wherein at least two of the video streams are derived from cameras filming the live sporting event and convey different views of the action.

105 ) A computer device as defined in claim 101 , wherein said computer device is capable of requesting the user via the user interface to supply payment instrument information to enable the online purchase of delivery of service.

107 ) A computer device as defined in claim 101 , wherein said computer device is capable of requesting the user via the user interface to supply shipping address information at which purchased good are to be delivered.
108 ) A computer device as defined in claim 101 , wherein said computer device is capable of requesting the user via the user interface to supply information identifying a language in which the online account is to be set.
109 ) A data network entity for use in a data network, the data network entity capable of establishing a data communication with a remote computer device via the data network, said data network entity comprising:
a) a data communication interface for connection to the data network;
b) a computing platform for directing an exchange of information with the remote computer device via said user interface to set an online account on said data network entity for allowing a user at the remote computer to perform an online purchase of delivery of service to a handheld electronic device for use at a venue hosting a live sporting event, wherein the service includes delivering to the handheld electronic device a wireless RF transmission containing two or more video streams conveying live sporting event content, the live sporting event content including moving images of action occurring at the live sporting event held at the venue, the handheld electronic device including a selector allowing a spectator using the handheld electronic device to select among the two or more video streams and a display for viewing the selected video stream.

118 ) A data network entity as defined in claim 112 , wherein said computing platform causes said data communication interface to send data to the remote computer for causing the remote computer to request the user to supply shipping address information at which purchased good are to be delivered.
119 ) A data network entity as defined in claim 112 , wherein said computing platform causes said data communication interface to send data to the remote computer for causing the remote computer to request the user to supply information identifying a language in which the online account is to be set.

121 ) A process for setting an online account allowing a user to perform an online purchase of service delivery to a handheld electronic device, the handheld electronic device for use at a venue hosting a live sporting event, wherein the service includes delivering to the handheld electronic device a wireless RF transmission containing two or more video streams conveying live sporting event content, the live sporting event content including moving images of action occurring at the live sporting event held at the venue, the handheld electronic device including a selector allowing a spectator using the handheld electronic device to select among the two or more video streams and a display for viewing the selected video stream, said process comprising:
a) accessing a web site via a computer device in communication via a remote network entity hosting a web site;
b) supplying to the web site identification information for use in authenticating the user when future access to the online account is desired.

126 ) A process as defined in claim 125 , wherein the payment instrument information is selected in the group consisting of credit card number, bank card number and electronic payment service information to pay for the online purchase of service delivery to the handheld electronic device.
127 ) A process as defined in claim 122 , including supplying to the web site information on a shipping address at which purchased goods are to be delivered.
128 ) A process as defined in claim 122 , including supplying to the web site information on a language in which the online account is to be set.
129 ) A process for performing a purchase of service delivery to a handheld electronic device, the handheld electronic device for use at a venue hosting a live sporting event, wherein the service includes delivering to the handheld electronic device a wireless RF transmission containing two or more video streams conveying live sporting event content, the live sporting event content including moving images of action occurring at the live sporting event held at the venue, the handheld electronic device including a selector allowing a user to select among the two or more video streams and a display for viewing the selected video stream, said process comprising:
a) making payment for the service;
b) receiving a user code;
c) entering the user code on the user interface to unlock the handheld electronic device and allow viewing the live sporting event content.
