The handheld electronic device is capable to acquire a locked mode of operation and an unlocked mode of operation, in the locked mode of operation the handheld electronic device being precluded from displaying the video streams to a spectator, in the unlocked mode of operation the handheld electronic device being enabled to display the video streams to the spectator, the handheld electronic device capable to acquire the unlocked mode of operation in response to reception of authentication data wirelessly transmitted to the handheld electronic device.

Claims (8)

1. A handheld electronic device for use at a live event, comprising:

a receiver for receiving a wireless RF transmission conveying a plurality of video streams derived from video cameras filming the live event, the live event including a moving object that is filmed by at least one of the video cameras, the wireless RF transmission includes real-time information, the real-time information includes GPS coordinates of the moving object, the wireless RF transmission includes a plurality of coordinate ranges associated with the plurality of video streams, a first coordinate range of the plurality of coordinate ranges is associated with a first video stream of the plurality of video streams, the first coordinate range includes a first range of GPS coordinates, a second coordinate range of the plurality of coordinate ranges is associated with a second video stream of the plurality of video streams, the second coordinate range includes a second range of GPS coordinates different from the first range of GPS coordinates;

a display for viewing at least one of the plurality of video streams;

a storage medium, the storage medium stores a user preference specified by an end user of the handheld electronic device, the user preference includes an identification of the moving object; and

a processor executing tracking software on the handheld electronic device, the tracking software automatically determines whether to switch the display from the one video stream of the plurality of video streams to another video stream of the plurality of video streams based at least in part on the GPS coordinates of the moving object and the plurality of coordinate ranges associated with the plurality of video streams, the tracking software determines in which of the plurality of coordinate ranges the moving object is located based on the GPS coordinates of the moving object.

2. A handheld electronic device as defined in claim 1 , wherein the real-time information includes a flag to designate a best video stream of the plurality of video streams for viewing a priority event.

3. A handheld electronic device as defined in claim 1 , wherein the tracking software controls the display to switch from one video stream to another automatically without intervention by the end user.

4. The handheld electronic device as defined in claim 1 , wherein the end user specifies the user preference via a menu selection on the handheld electronic device.
