Abstract

A method in a wireless communication network infrastructure entity including broadcasting information on a broadcast channel for receipt by broadcast wireless communication terminals in the wireless communication network, transmitting ( 210 ) a report triggering command to the wireless communication terminals, wherein the report triggering command triggers reporting of feedback information for the channel by the wireless communication terminals upon satisfaction of a condition.

Claims (17)

1 . A method in a wireless communication network infrastructure entity, the method comprising:

broadcasting information on a broadcast channel for receipt by broadcast wireless communication terminals in the wireless communication network;

transmitting a report triggering command to the wireless communication terminals,

the report triggering command triggering reporting of feedback information for the channel by the wireless communication terminals upon satisfaction of a condition of the broadcast channel relative to the reference information.

2 . The method of claim 1 , transmitting the report triggering command with the reference information to the wireless communication terminals.

3 . The method of claim 1 , transmitting the report triggering command with reference information that reduces triggering reporting of feedback information for the broadcast channel by wireless communication terminals experiencing better channel conditions.

4 . The method of claim 1 , reducing transmission power of the broadcast channel in the absence of feedback from the wireless communication terminals until feedback is received from one of the wireless communication terminals.

5 . The method of claim 1 , adjusting transmission power of the broadcast channel based on feedback information received from at least one of the wireless communication terminals.

6 . The method of claim 1 , adjusting transmission rate of the broadcast channel based on feedback information received from at least one of the wireless communication terminals.

7 . A method in a wireless communication terminal, the method comprising:

receiving broadcast information on a broadcast channel;

resetting a timer when reception quality degrades below a specified level on the broadcast channel;

transmitting feedback information after starting the timer.

8 . The method of claim 7 , transmitting feedback information until the timer expires.

9 . The method of claim 7 , not transmitting feedback information unless the timer is running.

10 . The method of claim 7 , transmitting feedback information includes transmitting channel quality information.

11 . The method of claim 7 , transmitting feedback information includes transmitting channel acknowledgement information.
