Razor assembly
View Patent ↗A razor assembly is provided that includes a razor cartridge with one or more razor blades, a shaving aid body, a handle, and a linkage pivotally connected to the handle. The linkage is connected to the razor cartridge and the shaving aid body in a manner such that the razor cartridge and the shaving aid body are moveable relative to the handle. Movement of one of the razor cartridge or the shaving aid body in a first direction causes the other of the razor cartridge or the shaving aid body to move in a second direction substantially opposite the first direction. As a result, the positions of the shaving aid body and the razor cartridge are continuously adjusted to maintain the contact surface of the shaving aid body approximately co-planar with the cutting edges of the razor blades within the razor cartridge.
1. A razor assembly, comprising:
a razor cartridge that includes one or more razor blades, the razor cartridge having a skin contact surface with a first surface area and each razor blade having a cutting edge;
a shaving aid body comprising an erodible solid body comprising one or more shaving aid materials, the shaving aid body having a skin contact surface with a second surface area;
a handle; and
a linkage that is connected to the razor cartridge and the shaving aid body, the linkage including a base at least partially embedded within the shaving aid body, the base including an aperture sized to receive the razor cartridge;
wherein the second surface area is larger than the first surface area; and
wherein, during a shaving process, the linkage self adjusts to allow movement of the shaving aid body relative to the handle to maintain an orientation between the skin contact surface of the shaving aid body and the cutting edges of the razor blades; and
wherein movement of one of the razor cartridge or the shaving aid body in a first direction causes the other of the razor cartridge or the shaving aid body to move in a second direction substantially opposite the first direction.
2. The razor assembly of claim 1 , wherein the linkage further operates to maintain the skin contact surface of the shaving aid body approximately co-planar with the cutting edges of the one or more razor blades.
3. The razor assembly of claim 2 , wherein the linkage is pivotally connected to the handle.
4. The razor assembly of claim 1 , wherein the linkage includes a pivot member that is pivotally connected to the razor cartridge.
5. The razor assembly of claim 1 , wherein the shaving aid body has an aperture in the contact surface, the aperture being sized to receive the razor cartridge.
6. The razor assembly of claim 5 , wherein the shaving aid body comprises at least one piece.
7. The razor assembly of claim 6 , wherein the shaving aid body comprises at least a forward portion.
8. The razor assembly of claim 5 , wherein the shaving aid body comprises two pieces.
9. The razor assembly of claim 8 , wherein the shaving aid body comprises a forward portion and an aft portion.
10. The razor assembly of claim 5 , wherein the perimeter of the aperture of the shaving aid body is defined by a continuous surface.
11. The razor assembly of claim 5 , wherein the perimeter of the aperture of the shaving aid body is defined by a discontinuous surface.
