Abstract

The subject of the present invention is a process for preparing a bituminous product, characterized in that a compound based on a phosphoric or polyphosphoric acid supported on a mineral oxide of high porosity is used. The subject of the invention is also the bituminous product that can be obtained by the above process, and its uses.

Claims (17)

1 - 14 . (canceled)

15 . A composition for use in bituminous products comprising:

an acid component selected from the group consisting of phosphoric acid, polyphosphoric acid, and combinations thereof, and

a mineral oxide support component, wherein the mineral oxide is a high porosity mineral oxide.

16 . The composition of claim 15 , wherein said polyphosphoric acid component is selected from the group consisting of pyrophosphoric acid, diphosphoric acid, triphosphoric acid, polyphosphoric acids of the formula H n+2 P n O 3n+1 , metaphosphoric acids of the formula H n P n O 3n , superphosphoric acids, and combinations thereof.

17 . The composition of claim 15 , wherein said mineral oxide component is selected from the group consisting of silicas, aluminas, and aluminosilicates.

18 . The composition of claim 17 , wherein said silica comprises a precipitated silica.

19 . Method for preparing a compound for use in bituminous products comprising:

providing an acid component selected from the group consisting of phosphoric acid, polyphosphoric acid, and combinations thereof;

providing a mineral oxide support component, wherein the mineral oxide is a high porosity mineral oxide;

admixing said acid component to said mineral oxide component until such point that the mineral oxide component is unable to absorb more acid.

20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the method further includes the step of drying the compound after the mineral oxide has been brought into contact with the phosphoric or polyphosphoric acid.

21 . The method of claim 20 , wherein the method further includes the step of hydrophobicizing the compound using a silicone, a fatty acid, or combinations thereof.

22 . The composition of claim 19 , wherein said phosphoric acid component comprises orthophosphoric acid or monophosphoric acid.

23 . The composition of claim 22 , wherein said polyphosphoric acid component is selected from the group consisting of pyrophosphoric acid, diphosphoric acid, triphosphoric acid, polyphosphoric acids of the formula H n+2 P n O 3n+1 , metaphosphoric acids of the formula H n P n O 3n , superphosphoric acids, and combinations thereof.

24 . The composition of claim 22 , wherein said mineral oxide component is selected from the group consisting of silicas, aluminas, and aluminosilicates.

25 . The composition of claim 24 , wherein said silica comprises a precipitated silica.
