Abstract

An acid-gas absorbing tablet including in relatively sufficient proportions an adsorbent which may be activated carbon or silica gel or a mixture thereof, potassium carbonate, polyvinylpyrrolidinone, and potassium bicarbonate. A method of absorbing acid gases from a confined environment utilizing the above tablet by inserting it into the confined environment.

Claims (15)

1. In an electronic device wherein acid gases are generated, the improvement of an acid-gas absorbing tablet in said electronic device, said acid-gas absorbing tablet comprising in relatively sufficient proportions by weight at least one adsorbent, a binder, and at least one basic salt blended with said at least one adsorbent, and one second basic salt in intimate contact with said binder, wherein said second basic salt comprises potassium bicarbonate or sodium bicarbonate.

2. In an electronic device as set forth in claim 1 wherein said at least one basic salt is selected from the group consisting of sodium and potassium carbonates and bicarbonates.

3. In an electronic device as set forth in claim 1 wherein said at least one basic salt is selected from the group consisting of sodium and potassium carbonates, and the second basic salt selected from the group of sodium and potassium bicarbonates.

4. An electronic device comprising an enclosure, at least one acid-gas generating component within the enclosure, an acid-gas absorbing, tablet within the enclosure, said acid-gas absorbent tablet comprising in relatively sufficient proportions by weight at least one adsorbent, a binder and at least one basic salt blended with said adsorbent, and a binder and a second basic salt in intimate contact with said binder, wherein the binder is in intimate contact with the second bask salt comprising potassium bicarbonate or sodium bicarbonate.

5. In an electronic device as set forth in claim 1 wherein said at least one basic salt is selected from the group consisting of sodium and potassium carbonates and bicarbonates.

6. In an electronic device as set forth in claim 1 including a second basic salt, and wherein said at least one basic salt and said second basic salt are selected from the group consisting of sodium and potassium carbonates and bicarbonates.

7. In an electronic device as set forth in claim 1 wherein the binder comprises polyvinylpyrrolidinone.

8. In an electronic device as set forth in claim 7 wherein said at least one adsorbent comprises a carbon or silica gel.

9. In an electronic device as set forth in claim 8 wherein said at least one basic salt comprises potassium carbonate or sodium carbonate.

10. In an electronic device as set forth in claim 1 wherein the second basic salt and said binder are a homogenous mixture.

11. The electronic device of claim 4 wherein the at least, one basic salt is blended with the at least one absorbent comprising carbon or silica.

12. The electronic device of claim 11 wherein the binder comprises polyvinylpyrrolidinone.

13. The electronic device of claim 4 wherein said binder comprises polyvinylpyrrolidinone.

14. The electronic device of claim 13 wherein said at least one adsorbent comprises carbon or silica gel.

15. The electronic device of claim 14 wherein said at least one basic salt comprises potassium carbonate or sodium carbonate.
