Abstract

The present invention provides a photothermographic material having, on at least one side of a support, an image forming layer including at least a photosensitive silver halide, a first non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent, and a binder, and a non-photosensitive layer including a second non-photosensitive organic silver salt that is different from the first non-photosensitive organic silver salt on the same side of the support as the image forming layer and farther from the support than the image forming layer, wherein the photothermographic material further has a non-photosensitive intermediate layer between the image forming layer and the non-photosensitive layer, and 50% by weight or more of a binder in the non-photosensitive intermediate layer is a polymer latex. A photothermographic material, which exhibits improved image storability and improved resistance to image defects, is provided.

Claims (12)

1. A photothermographic material comprising, on at least one side of a support, an image forming layer comprising at least a photosensitive silver halide, a first non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent, and a binder, and a non-photosensitive layer comprising a second non-photosensitive organic silver salt that is different from the first non-photosensitive organic silver salt on the same side of the support as the image forming layer and farther from the support than the image forming layer, wherein the photothermographic material further comprises a non-photosensitive intermediate layer between the image forming layer and the non-photosensitive layer, and 50% by weight or more of a binder in the non-photosensitive intermediate layer is a polymer latex.

2. The photothermographic material according to claim 1 , wherein the first non-photosensitive organic silver salt comprises a silver salt of a fatty acid, and the second non-photosensitive organic silver salt comprises a silver salt of a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound.

3. The photothermographic material according to claim 2 , wherein the silver salt of a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound comprises a silver salt of a benzotriazole compound.

4. The photothermographic material according to claim 1 , wherein a ratio of an amount of the second non-photosensitive organic silver salt relative to an amount of the first non-photosensitive organic silver salt is from 0.5 mol % to 50 mol % on the basis of silver molar ratio.

5. The photothermographic material according to claim 1 , wherein 50% by weight or more of the binder in the image forming layer is a polymer latex.

6. The photothermographic material according to claim 1 , wherein the photothermographic material further comprises, on the side of the support having thereon the image forming layer, a non-photosensitive outermost layer that is different from the non-photosensitive layer.

7. The photothermographic material according to claim 6 , wherein 50% by weight or more of a binder in the non-photosensitive outermost layer is a hydrophilic polymer.

8. The photothermographic material according to claim 7 , wherein the hydrophilic polymer comprises gelatin or a gelatin derivative.

9. The photothermographic material according to claim 1 , wherein the photothermographic material comprises a fluorine atom-containing polymer latex having a monomer component represented by the following formula (P):

(Rf) p -L-OCOC(R)═CH 2   Formula (P)

wherein Rf represents a fluoroalkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms and 1 to 41 fluorine atoms; p represents 1 or 2; L represents a linking group containing 1 to 12 carbon atoms; and R represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group.

10. The photothermographic material according to claim 9 , wherein the fluorine atom-containing polymer latex is incorporated in the non-photosensitive outermost layer.
