Abstract

A therapeutic agent for lower urinary tract symptoms containing tamsulosin or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an effective ingredient.

Claims (13)

4 . A method of treating a symptom of urinary disturbance due to a functional obstruction of the lower urinary tract in a male or female patient suffering from lower urinary tract symptoms who does not exhibit benign prostatic hyperplasia, any organic obstruction of the urethra, or abnormality of one or more urination-controlling nerves,

wherein the patient is in need of treatment as determined by the total score for subjective symptoms,

comprising administering to said patient tamsulosin or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

5 . The method of treating a symptom of urinary disturbance according to claim 4 , wherein said method comprises administering tamsulosin hydrochloride.

A method of treating a symptom of urinary disturbance due to a functional obstruction of the lower urinary tract in a male or female patient suffering from lower urinary tract symptoms who does not exhibit benign prostatic hyperplasia, any organic obstruction of the urethra or abnormality of one or more urination-controlling nerves,

wherein the patient is in need of treatment as determined by the QOL index,

comprising administering to said patient tamsulosin or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

7 . The method of treating a symptom of urinary disturbance according to claim 6 , wherein said method comprises administering tamsulosin hydrochloride.

A method of treating a symptom of urinary disturbance due to a functional obstruction of the lower urinary tract in a male or female patient suffering from lower urinary tract symptoms who does not exhibit benign prostatic hyperplasia, any organic obstruction of the urethra or abnormality of one or more urination-controlling nerves,

wherein the patient is in need of treatment as determined by evaluating both the total score for subjective symptoms and the QOL index,

comprising administering to said patient tamsulosin or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

9 . The method of treating a symptom of urinary disturbance according to claim 8 , wherein said method comprises administering tamsulosin hydrochloride.
