Abstract

An image commercial transactions system and method, an image transfersystem and method, an image distribution system and method, and a display device and method are disclosed. A reception dealer accepts the transfer of an image recorded on a recording medium in a predetermined format with a handling condition intrinsic to the image, and transfers the image with the handling condition, and an advertisement, in digital data format, and a charge accounting dealer effects an electronic charge accounting transaction for the transfer of data of the image with the handling condition and the advertisement. Accordingly, a forwarding request user is helpful in making public the advertisement by having the data of the advertisement along with the data of the image forwarded, instead of the reception dealer, whereby a transfer fee for the data of image can be made lower. Consequently, it is possible to enhance the usability for the transfer significantly.

Claims (17)

1. A content distribution system, comprising:

a data distribution center programmed to:

receive an order for music data, detect whether a channel with a surplus data transfer rate when the data transfer rate assigned to the channel is greater than an actual data transfer rate, and

transmit a compressed music content, a music content title, a photographic picture, billing information, duplication limitation information and order confirmation data, the order confirmation data being transmitted via the detected channel;

a home server programmed to

receive and store the compressed music content, the music content title, the photographic picture, the duplication limitation information and the billing information,

display a program table for selecting a music content and for requesting transmission of a selected music content from the data distribution center, the selected music content being stored in the home server with the music content title and the photographic picture, and

transmit identification information identifying a user of the home server and at least a portion of the billing information to a station when the user selects a music content for purchase based on the displayed program table, the billing information being given from a satellite broadcast reception device of the user;

the data distribution center is further programmed, in response to determining that there is no channel having a surplus data transfer rate, to transmit the music content, wait until a surplus data transfer rate is generated for a channel, and transmit the order confirmation data via the channel for which the surplus data transfer rate has been generated;

a portable storage apparatus programmed to receive from the home server at least the compressed music content based at least on the duplication limitation information; and

a portable music player programmed to render the compressed music content stored on the portable storage apparatus.

2. The content distribution system according to claim 1 , wherein said data distribution center transmits the compressed music content, the music content title, the photographic picture, the billing information, and the duplication limitation information with a category code.

3. The content distribution system according to claim 1 , wherein said compressed music content is an MPEG (motion picture experts group) type of compressed music content.

4. The content distribution system according to claim 1 , wherein said data distribution center compresses and encodes the music content to transmit the compressed music content as packet data.

5. The content distribution system according to claim 1 ,

wherein the home server transmits identification data indicating a purchase to the data distribution center when the music content is selected via the program table.

6. The conent distribution system according to claim 5 , wherein the data distribution center performs a billing operation on the basis of the identification data.
