Abstract

Devices and methods of use for brush holder assemblies are disclosed. Brush holder assemblies including a mounting block and a brush holder are disclosed. Also illustrated is a brush holder assembly including a first portion in sliding engagement with a second portion. In some embodiments the brush holder includes a channel, such that at least a portion of the mounting block is disposed within the channel of the brush holder.

Claims (18)

1. A brush holder assembly for holding an electrical brush in contact with a conductive surface, the brush holder assembly comprising:

a mounting block including first and second outer side surfaces; and

a brush holder component for coupling to the mounting block, the brush holder component defining a channel for receiving a portion of the mounting block, the channel including first and second inner side surfaces;

wherein when the brush holder component is coupled to the mounting block, at least a portion of the mounting block is disposed within the channel such that at least a portion of the first and second outer side surfaces of the mounting block are disposed between the first and second inner side surfaces of the channel; wherein the mounting block includes a mounting aperture extending there through, and wherein when the brush holder component is coupled to the mounting block, at least a portion of the mounting aperture is disposed within the channel.

2. The brush holder assembly of claim 1 , wherein the brush holder component is configured for selective coupling to the mounting block.

3. The brush holder assembly of claim 1 , wherein the mounting block includes a mounting aperture extending therethrough, and wherein when the brush holder component is coupled to the mounting block, at least a portion of the mounting aperture is disposed within the channel.

4. The brush holder assembly of claim 1 , further including a fastener member disposed within the mounting aperture, and securing the mounting block to a stationary base, and wherein when the brush holder component is coupled to the mounting block, at least a portion of the fastener member is disposed within the channel.

5. The brush holder assembly of claim 1 , wherein the brush holder component includes a beam defining the channel.

6. The brush holder assembly of claim 1 , wherein the brush holder component is sized larger than the mounting block.

7. The brush holder assembly of claim 1 , wherein the mounting block is slidably disposed within the channel.

8. The brush holder assembly of claim 1 , wherein the width of the brush holder component is greater than the width of the mounting block.

9. The brush holder assembly of claim 8 , wherein the comparative widths of the brush holder component and the mounting block allows for higher brush density about an electrical device.

10. The brush holder assembly of claim 8 , wherein the comparative widths of the brush holder component and the mounting block allows for higher amperage capacity of the electrical device.

11. A brush holder assembly for holding a brush in contact with a rotating collector ring or commutator in an industrial electrical device, the electrical device having a stationary base adjacent the rotating collector ring or commutator, the brush holder assembly comprising:

a mounting block extending from the stationary base, wherein the mounting block includes first and second outer side surfaces; and

a brush holder for guiding the brush in sliding contact with the rotating collector ring or commutator, the brush holder including structure defining a channel including first and second inner side surfaces, the brush holder being coupled to the mounting block such that at least a portion of the mounting block is disposed within the channel and at least a portion of the first and second outer side surfaces of the mounting block are disposed between the first and second inner side surfaces of the channel wherein the brush holder is sized larger than the mounting block such that the comparative sizes of the brush holder and the mounting block allows for higher brush density on the industrial electrical device.

12. The brush holder assembly of claim 11 , wherein the brush holder is sized larger than the mounting block such that the comparative sizes of the brush holder and the mounting block allows for higher brush density on the industrial electrical device.

13. The brush holder assembly of claim 11 , wherein the brush holder is sized larger than the mounting block such that the comparative sizes of the brush holder and the mounting block allows for higher amperage capacity of the industrial electrical device.
