Diagnostic and therapeutic epitope, and transgenic plant
View Patent ↗A food comprising a mutant gliadin protein that comprises at least one mutation in the epitope 62 PQPQLPY 68 (SEQ ID NO:6), wherein the mutation decreases the ability of the epitope to induce a T cell response, or a fragment of the mutant gliadin protein wherein the fragment is at least 15 amino acids long and comprises the mutated 62 PQPQLPY 68 (SEQ ID NO:6) is provided herein.
1. A protein comprising:
a) a mutant gliadin protein with a mutation in the epitope 62 PQPQLPY 68 (SEQ ID NO:6), wherein the glutamine residue at position 65 in A-gliadin, or in an equivalent position in other gliadins, is substituted to a histidine, tyrosine, tryptophan, lysine, proline, or arginine residue; or
b) a fragment of the mutant protein of a), which fragment is at least 15 amino acids long and comprises the mutated PQPQLPY sequence.
2. A protein comprising a mutant gliadin protein with a mutation in the epitope 62 PQPQLPY 68 (SEQ ID NO:6), wherein the glutamine residue at position 65 in A-gliadin, or in an equivalent position in other gliadins, is substituted to a histidine, tyrosine, tryptophan, lysine, proline, or arginine residue.
3. The protein of claim 2 wherein the glutamine residue at position 65 in A-gliadin, or in an equivalent position in other gliadins, is substituted to a histidine residue.
