Abstract

Provided is an image forming method including providing a photothermographic material having image forming layers containing at least a photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent, and a binder on both surfaces of a support, imagewise exposing the photothermographic material with a fluorescent intensifying screen, and thermally developing the photothermographic material in a thermal developing apparatus having a heating section, wherein the heating section has at least two heating means and a difference between a sensitivity when the photothermographic material is developed at 25° C. and relative humidity of 75% and a sensitivity when the photothermographic material is developed at 25° C. and relative humidity of 20% is 0.20 or less. An image forming method similar to that described above in which the photothermographic material has an antistatic layer is also provided.

36 . An image forming method for forming an image, comprising:

providing a photothermographic material having image forming layers containing a photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent, and a binder on both surfaces of a support,

imagewise exposing the photothermographic material with a fluorescent intensifying screen,

and thermally developing the photothermographic material in a thermal developing device having a heating means,

wherein the photothermographic material has an antistatic layer.

37 . The image forming method according to claim 36 , wherein the antistatic layer is provided between at least one of the image forming layers and the support.

38 . The image forming method according to claim 37 , wherein a non-photosensitive layer containing no antistatic agent is provided between the at least one of the image forming layers and the antistatic layer.

39 . The image forming method according to claim 36 , wherein the antistatic layer contains at least one selected from a metal oxide, a conductive polymer, and a surfactant.

40 . The image forming method according to claim 39 , wherein the antistatic layer contains a metal oxide.

The image forming method according to claim 40 , wherein the metal oxide is at least one crystalline metal oxide selected from the group consisting of ZnO, TiO 2 , SnO 2 , Al 2 O 3 , In 2 O 3 , SiO 2 , MgO, BaO, and MoO 3 , or at least one selected from the group consisting of complex oxides thereof.

42 . The image forming method according to claim 39 , wherein the antistatic layer contains a conductive polymer.

43 . The image forming method according to claim 42 , wherein the conductive polymer is a water-soluble conductive polymer which is a reaction product of a hydrophobic polymer and a hardner.

44 . The image forming method according to claim 39 , wherein the antistatic layer contains a surfactant.

45 . The image forming method according to claim 44 , wherein the surfactant is at least one selected from an anionic surfactant, a cationic surfactant, a nonionic surfactant, and a betaine surfactant.

46 . The image forming method according to claim 36 , wherein at least one of outermost layers of the photothermographic material contains a fluorocarbon compound having a fluoroalkyl group which has 2 or more carbon atoms and 12 or less fluorine atoms.

47 . The image forming method according to claim 46 , wherein the fluorocarbon compound has a fluoroalkyl group represented by the following formula (A):

-L 03 -L 04 -W+TM(FORMULA A)

wherein in formula (A), L 03 represents an alkylene group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, L 04 represents a perfluoroalkylene group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms, and W represents one selected from a hydrogen atom, a fluorine atom, and an alkyl group.

48 . The image forming method according to claim 36 , wherein the thermal developing apparatus has a heating means, the heating means has a plate and rollers which push the photothermographic material to the plate and rotate, and a heater serving as a heating source is built into at least one of the plate and the rollers.

49 . The image forming method according to claim 48 , wherein the photothermographic material is heated while traveling on the heating means with the reception of frictional resistance.

50 . The image forming method according to claim 48 , wherein the photothermographic material is thermally developed while being conveyed at a conveying speed of 10 mm/second or higher.

51 . The image forming method according to claim 36 , wherein grains of the photosensitive silver halide are tabular grains having an aspect ratio of 2 or more.

52 . The image forming method according to claim 51 , wherein the grains of the photosensitive silver halide have a mean equivalent spherical diameter of from 0.3 μm to 8.0 μm.

53 . The image forming method according to claim 36 , wherein an average silver iodide content of the photosensitive silver halide is 40 mol % or higher.

54 . The image forming method according to claim 53 , wherein the average silver iodide content of the photosensitive silver halide is 90 mol % or higher.

55 . The image forming method according to claim 53 , wherein the photothermographic material contains a compound which substantially reduces visible light absorption by the photosensitive silver halide after thermal development.

56 . The image forming method according to claim 55 , wherein the compound which substantially reduces visible light absorption by the photosensitive silver halide after thermal development is a silver iodide complex forming agent.
