Abstract

A drying device includes an air/air heat exchanger and an air/refrigerant heat exchanger. The air refrigerant heat exchanger includes a phase change material.

Claims (26)

1. A heat exchanger, comprising:

an air/air heat exchanger;

a thermal jacket;

an air/refrigerant heat exchanger coupled to said air/air heat exchanger, said air/refrigerant heat exchanger comprising a plurality of tubes disposed within said thermal jacket; and

a phase change material to store heat transfer capacity for the air/refrigerant heat exchanger, the phase change material being disposed between a first tube of said plurality of tubes and a second tube of said plurality of tubes, the phase change material being thermally isolated from the air/air heat exchanger by the thermal jacket.

2. The heat exchanger of claim 1 , wherein said phase change material is contained within the thermal jacket.

3. The heat exchanger of claim 1 , wherein said plurality of tubes are arranged in a coiled manner.

4. The heat exchanger of claim 1 , wherein said plurality of tubes are arranged in a straight manner.

5. The heat exchanger of claim 1 further comprising a probe for sensing a temperature.

6. The heat exchanger of claim 5 , wherein said probe is a phase change temperature sensing probe, and is located near said phase change material.

7. A heat exchanging apparatus, comprising:

an air/air heat exchanging means;

an air/refrigerant heat exchanging means coupled to said air/air heat exchanging means, said air/refrigerant heat exchanging means comprising a plurality of means for conveying; and

a phase changing means to store heat transfer capacity for the air/refrigerant heat exchanging means, the phase changing means being disposed between a first means for conveying of said plurality of means for conveying and a second means for conveying of said plurality of means for conveying; and

a thermal insulating means disposed between said air/air heat exchanging means and said air/refrigerant heat exchanging means to thermally isolate said air/air heat exchanging means from said air/refrigerant heat exchanging means.

8. The heat exchanging apparatus of claim 7 , wherein said phase changing means is contained within said thermal insulating means.

9. The heat exchanging apparatus of claim 7 , wherein said plurality of means for conveying are arranged in a coiled manner.

10. The heat exchanging apparatus of claim 7 , wherein said plurality of means for conveying are arranged in a straight manner.

11. The heat exchanging apparatus of claim 7 , further comprising a sensing means to sense a temperature.

12. The heat exchanging apparatus of claim 11 , wherein said sensing means is a phase change temperature sensing means, and is located near said phase changing means.

13. A heat exchanging apparatus, comprising:

a first exchanging means for conducting heat from a first stream of air to a second stream of air;

a second exchanging means for conducting heat from the first stream of air to a stream of fluid, said second exchanging means comprising a first conveying means and a second conveying means;

a coupling means to couple the first exchanging means to the second exchanging means; and

a phase changing means to store heat transfer capacity for the second exchanging means, the phase changing means being disposed between said first conveying means and said second conveying means; and

a thermal insulating means to thermally isolate said first exchanging means from said second exchanging means.
