a substrate having a front side and a back side, and a first portion, a second portion proximate to the first portion, and a third portion proximate to the first portion,

wherein

the first portion of the substrate comprises an adhesive on its back side, a deadening agent adjacent to at least a portion of the adhesive, and printed traces on the deadening agent;

the second portion of the substrate comprises an adhesive on its back side;

the third portion of the substrate comprises an adhesive on its back side; and

a release liner in contact with the adhesive on the back side of the substrate;

wherein the first portion is adapted to be detached from the second portion, the third portion, or both; and one or more of the front side of the first portion, the front side of the second portion and the front side of the third portion is adapted for thermal printing.

19 . The thermally printable label of claim 18 wherein the substrate comprises thermally activated paper.

20 . The thermally printable label of claim 18 wherein the front side of the label comprises a thermally activated coating.

21 . The thermally printable label of claim 18 wherein the front side of the first portion comprises printed information.

22 . The thermally printable label of claim 18 wherein the printed traces comprise printed information.

23 . The thermally printable label of claim 22 wherein the printed information comprises one or more of a bar code, a coupon, and a recipe.

24 . A plurality of thermally printable labels of claim 18 in the form of a roll, a linear sheet, or an array.

25 . The thermally printable label of claim 18 wherein the interface between the first portion and the second portion and the interface between the first portion and the third portion comprise perforations.

26 . The thermally printable label of claim 18 wherein the adhesive is a pressure sensitive adhesive.

27 . The thermally printable label of claim 18 comprising printed information on the front side of the substrate.

28 . The thermally printable label of claim 18 , wherein the front side of the substrate comprises a printable region for on-site thermal printing.

29 . A thermally printable label having a front side and a back side, the thermally printable label comprising:

a first portion, the first portion comprising printed traces on its back side, wherein the back side of the first portion of the label non-permanently contacts a product;

a second portion, the second portion proximate to the first portion and comprising an adhesive on its back side, wherein the adhesive permanently attaches the second portion of the label to a product;

a third portion, the third portion proximate to the first portion and comprising an adhesive on its back side, wherein the adhesive permanently attaches the third portion to a product;

wherein the first portion is adapted to be detached from the second portion, the third portion, or both; and the front side of one or more of the first portion, the second portion and the third portion comprises a thermally activated coating.

30 . The thermally printable label of claim 29 , wherein the front side of the label comprises a printable region for on-site thermal printing.

31 . A thermally printable label having a front side and a back side, the thermally printable label comprising:

a first portion, the first portion comprising printed traces on its back side, wherein the back side of the first portion of the label non-permanently contacts a product;

a second portion, the second portion proximate to the first portion and comprising an adhesive on its back side, wherein the adhesive permanently attaches the second portion of the label to a product;

a third portion, the third portion proximate to the first portion and comprising an adhesive on its back side, wherein the adhesive permanently attaches the third portion to a product;

wherein the first portion is adapted to be detached from the second portion, the third portion, or both; and the label comprises a thermally activated paper.

32 . The thermally printable label of claim 31 , wherein the front side of the label comprises a printable region for on-site thermal printing.
