Abstract

A telecommunication system includes telecommunication resources, points, and a connection manager. The connection manager is configured to establish connections between the telecommunications resources and the points in response to a request from an application. The connection manager uses routing tables to select the most efficient route from the available routes between a telecommunications resource and a point. The routing tables establish the connection by sending a request to allocate a telecommunications resource to a session manager.

Claims (41)

1. A method for dynamically allotting a resource to an application, the method comprising:

triggering an event signal in response to an event occurring;

receiving the event signal at a management module configured to manage a plurality of resources;

requesting a resource from a system module in response to the received event signal;

allocating the resource to the application in response to the request for the resource;

executing the application;

determining whether execution of the application is complete;

de-allocating the resource from the application in response to execution of the application being complete, the resource re-allocable to a subsequent request for the resource.

2. The method for dynamically allotting at least one resource to the application of claim 1 , wherein receiving the event signal further comprises:

detecting the event signal to determine available resources from the plurality of resources; and

notifying an application tracker to include the application in a list of currently executing applications, the application associated with the event signal.

3. The method for dynamically allotting at least one resource to the application of claim 1 , wherein requesting the resource further comprises:

providing requirements for the resource to the services kernel in response to the application beginning execution;

determining an availability of the resource;

assigning the resource to the application in response to the resource being available; and

indicating non-availability for the resource to the application in response to the resource not being available.

4. The method for dynamically allotting at least one resource to the application of claim 1 , wherein de-allocating the resource further comprises:

receiving notification of completion of execution of an application;

shutting down the application in response to the notification; and

returning the allocated telecommunication resources to control of the management module.

5. A computer readable medium structured to store instructions executable by a processor, the instructions when executed cause the processor to:

trigger an event signal in response to an event occurring;

receive the event signal at a management module configured to manage a plurality of resources;

request a resource from a system module in response to the received event signal;

allocate the resource to the application in response to the request for the resource;

execute the application;

determine whether execution of the application is complete;

de-allocate the resource from the application in response to execution of the application being complete, the resource re-allocable to a subsequent request for the resource.

6. The computer readable medium of claim 5 , wherein the instruction causing the processor to receive the event signal further comprises instructions to

cause the processor to:

detect the event signal to determine available resources from the plurality of resources; and

notify an application tracker to include the application in a list of currently executing applications, the application associated with the event signal.

7. The computer readable medium of claim 5 , wherein the instruction causing the processor to request the resource further comprises instructions to cause the processor to:

provide requirements for the resource to the services kernel in response to the application beginning execution;

determine an availability of the resource;

assign the resource to the application in response to the resource being available; and

indicate non-availability for the resource to the application in response to the resource not being available.

8. The computer readable medium of claim 5 , wherein the instruction causing the processor to de-allocate the resource further comprises instructions to cause the processor to:

receive notification of completion of execution of an application;

shut down the application in response to the notification; and

return the allocated telecommunication resources to control of the management module.
