Backlight assembly and direct lighting type liquid crystal display apparatus
View Patent ↗An LCD apparatus is provided. The LCD apparatus includes lamps for generating a first light, a diffusing member, and a receiving member. The diffusing member diffuses the first light from the lamps and reflected light to emit a second light having uniform brightness distribution. The LCD apparatus also includes an LCD panel receiving the second light and displaying images in response to the second light by use of liquid crystal, and a top chassis combined to the receiving member to secure the LCD panel onto the receiving member. The distances between the respective lamps and the diffusing member vary in association with positions of the respective lamps such that the closer to a central portion of the diffusing member a lamp is placed, the shorter a distance between the lamp and the diffusing member.
1. An LCD apparatus comprising:
a plurality of lamps for generating a first light, each lamp extending in a longitudinal direction;
a diffusing member which extends along a plane substantially parallel to the longitudinal direction and a lateral direction, for diffusing the first light from the lamps;
a receiving member for receiving the lamps and the diffusing member and for reflecting the first light to the diffusing member, wherein the diffusing member diffuses the first light from the lamps and the reflected light from the receiving member to emit a second light having uniform brightness distribution, and the lamps are arranged in the receiving member such that a vertical distance between one lamp and the diffusing member is different from another vertical distance between another lamp and the diffusing member;
an LCD panel for receiving the second light and displaying images in response to the second light by use of liquid crystal; and
a top chassis combined to the receiving member to secure the LCD panel onto the receiving member;
wherein distances between the respective lamps and the diffusing member vary in association with positions of the respective lamps such that lamps which are disposed closer to a central portion of the diffusing member along its lateral axis are disposed at a lesser vertical distance from the diffusing member, and
wherein the receiving member comprises:
a lamp reflecting plate having a plurality of inclination portions each inclined toward a central portion of the diffusing member, for reflecting the first light to the diffusing plate and increasing a brightness of the second light.
2. The LCD apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the receiving member further comprises:
a bottom chassis having a bottom surface corresponding to a bottom surface of the lamp reflecting plate and sidewalls extended from the bottom surface, for receiving the lamp reflecting plate and the lamps; and
a mold frame combined to the bottom chassis and coupled to end portions of the respective lamps to fix the lamps to the mold frame, the mold frame receiving the diffusing member.
3. The LCD apparatus of claim 2 , further comprising a driving part for driving the LCD panel in response to electric signals externally provided, the driving part being disposed on a rear surface of the bottom surface of the bottom chassis.
