Abstract

A filter assembly includes a filtering screen having a top surface and a bottom surface. A skeletal structure is attached to the filtering screen and has a top surface and a bottom surface. The bottom surface of the filtering screen contacts the top surface of the skeletal structure. The skeletal structure forms a plurality of downward extending channels.

Claims (22)

1. A filter assembly, comprising:

a filtering membrane having a top surface and a bottom surface, the filtering membrane comprising junctured threads; and

a perforated skeletal structure attached to the filtering membrane and having a top surface and a bottom surface, the bottom surface of the filtering membrane contacting the top surface of the skeletal structure,

wherein the skeletal structure forms a plurality of crimped downward extending channels,

wherein the filter membrane extends into the crimped downward extending channel and the filter membrane and the skeletal structure contact each other within the channel.

2. The filter assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of downward extending channels are v-shaped.

3. The filter assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of downward extending channels are each equal to or greater than ¾ inch in length, the plurality of downward extending channels further being spaced at least approximately 1 inch apart.

4. The filter assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the underlying skeletal structure comprises expanded metal wire.

5. The filter assembly according to claim 4 , wherein the expanded metal wire is of junctured construction.

6. The filter assembly according to claim 5 , wherein the expanded metal wire is between 0.035 and 0.055 inch gauge.

7. The filter assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the skeletal structure includes diamond-shaped water receiving openings.

8. The filter assembly according to claim 7 , wherein the diamond-shaped water receiving openings of the skeletal structure include angled metal walls, said filtering membrane contacting a top surface of the angled metal walls.

9. The filter assembly according to claim 1 ,

the filtering membrane comprising a fine mesh screen having opposing longitudinal edges;

the underlying skeletal structure comprising expanded metal wire having opposing longitudinal edges;

a forward connector portion crimped to front longitudinal edges of the filtering membrane and the skeletal structure; and

a rear connector portion associated with and crimped to rear longitudinal edges of the filtering membrane and the skeletal structure.

10. The filter assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the filtering membrane is attached to the skeletal structure by at least one of sprayed-on adhesive, adhesive strips and/or roll crimping.

11. The filter assembly according to claim 1 , the filtering membrane further comprising threads with openings between threads no greater than approximately 80 microns.

12. The filter assembly according to claim 1 , further comprising an interchangeable rear attachment comprising a forward securing configuration arranged to clip onto longitudinal edges of the filtering membrane and skeletal structure.

13. The filter assembly according to claim 12 , wherein the interchangeable rear attachment comprises a plane adapted to extend to and be received between roof structures.

14. The filter assembly according to claim 12 , wherein the interchangeable rear attachment comprises a plane adapted to contact a fascia board of a building structure to create a rear to forward tension.
